Battle of the DJ's

Hi all,

as a few of you know were doing a Battle of the DJ's.

We have a second meeting with the hopful sponsor.

We have suuport from cancer research Uk.

We have secuirty sorted.

Lights hired.

All the DJ's sets are complete.

We are getting a spot at kent country show to advertise, getting taxi companies to sponsor as well, we the barriers for free.

We was wondering if you have any ideas or useful advise.

Yup thats correct, were aiming for Wyvern Hall to be our home venue, hoping the 26th July (Saturday) or 1st Augest (Think its a friday)

Once weve got the hall booked were getting the insurance A.S.A.P.

I think the most important thing will be advertising, to ensure that you sell all the tickets.

2x Geni colour balster colour changer
4x SL colourscan scanner
2x ACME leader scanner
2x ACME IMove 250s
and
2x ACME IMove 7s

We have contacted the company about which controller would be best and were still waiting for a reply at the moment

TBH I'd never heard of IA Sound & Light until following that linky.

Looks like they are newish on the scene.... and the first hire co I've ever come across with Soundlab speakers on their inventory :eek: Can't say I've ever seen Acne kit on a dry hire inventory either.

Where are you hiring the sound from? :p

Doenst look like a big company,

Any big reputable company would have aload of Martin gear on hire with Nexo sound systems never ever seen a hire company using sound lab speakers for hire.

Were using my sound system and Rob's sound system (DJ Maxx) and im asking my mums friends dad if we can borrow some of his gear (He has got 4 average transits full :D

Is it all 'hardcore' music then?

I remember nearly a decade ago when Armand van Helden and Norman Cook had a DJ battle, in a boxing ring for charity (I think it was in Brixton). It still stands as the biggest DJ battle ever, as they were both probably at the peak of their careers. It was aired on Radio 1, and the mixing skills on show were very impressive - obviously they were both showboating, but that was the whole point!

The music is HardCore, Dance, Drum 'n' Bass, Old skool, Garage, Techno/Trance and others (not confirmed yet)

Hope to be a good laugh and raise quite a bit of money :D

We have had a lot of support, me and steve our partnering up and advertising each other, cab companies are going to be at the door at the end of the event

going on DVD.

So really your just expecting a lot of kids/teens going because i dont know a lot of adults who are in to this kind of music.

You might get some of the older people coming along if you are doing Old School dance classics like Bobby Brown - Two Can Play That Game Ect, But for the hardcore and drum & bass it will be mostly the younger ones.

If you are goingto put a big PA in the make sure you know the sound limit for the area if the venue is a neighbourhood are.

The thing is the police station is across the road so were getting them to turn up at the beggining/end of the event, and were waiting for a reply from the Hall and council about sound Db.

Sounds like a fairly good set of lights for an event like this if you use it to its full potential. How are you rigging it? Are you hiring in trussing?

Also do you have any references for that lighting company you have linked to? Just seems a bit.. strange.. as mentioned above that they are using that sort of gear.. and they only have manafacturers pictures of the units too.. no pics of them in 'real life'
