I have done quite allot of research in to these class-d cabs in fact class-d in general.
It wasn't until I spotted the JAC15s then made my ears stand on end and eyeballs wide open.
I was all for going for the Mackie srm450s but now seen these am completely undecided.
The JAC15s are rated at 500rms continuous each at 8ohms and have cast alloy drivers as apposed to the cheap pressed tin ones, so in my eyes that's ideal as music does not run continuous but up and down so in theory should run pretty well.
Please have a look at this package and tell me what you think over all, eventually I will also get some bass bins with a separate amp for them but for now can only afford tops.

I know a few people here will try and hunt me down for saying this, but personally, I wouldn't touch Class-d with a 10ft barge pole. I know a guy who has a pair and they sound like complete and utter trash. My 10 year old Kams sound way better.

One for, one against.
Right Karl, for a start the web adverts are often out of date. As far as I know, they're not selling C-mark amps at the moment, though that may change. Here are the Jac15's
http://www.class-d.com/Product.aspx?PRO=529
This is the amp I have, which could be a little bigger for these. They appear to have stopped advertising the 2000, which would be a better fit, so a link to that will follow.

I have never heard the Jac range running, so can not advise on them. Best guess as always is to ring Class-D, see what they have to say, I really would advise hearing them before you buy.

I've only heard bad things about the JAC range. If you're going for Class D go wooden.

As far as I can tell you, the KAM amps have no bells and whistles, but working well for me so far.

Steve if am going to go wooden I may as well go for the Peavey ULs as they'll be pretty much the same size although cost more but sound awesome

No signal level leds on the front, no speakon bridge socket on the back
( though in some ways that can be viewed as a bonus) . That's the two main items, not a lot in the scheme of things, perhaps.
Yes the Peavey UL's are great. Probably my system of choice, if funds were not a factor. :D

Their not actually that badly priced for pro gear
An average for a pair of tops £649 then roughly £300+ for the perfectly matched Peavey amp still very respectable and you don't have the split opinion's on whether they are good or not as its a sure deal, although am sure other amp options that cost less would do just as well?

I have the JAC 15"'s
They are good but not amazing. No where near the quality of Mackie SRM450 or the unpowerd version (of which i have heard many times).
It seems that Class D are good but only if it invloves a wooden cab design.
If i were buying again I would go for something else as I haft to be heavy with the eq to get the sound I want from the JAC's
But everyone has different ears!

You never know they may have solved some of the problems with the new ones.
"Wooden" cabs do generally seem to sound better than plastic though.

Have to agree. I have went to plastic from wood for weight reasons but was far happier when using wooden cabs. Not sure if applies to all makes ??

Well I have used Active Mackie's for years and although impressed, wonder where all the money goes after listening to Peters Wooden Class D's with my setup. Dare I say as good as my Mackies!!! Needless to say I'm going for Class D's in the very near future. Hell of a lot lighter too - which is a big bonus when stairs or distance are involved!!!

Hya mate thats very encouraging and going someway in swaying me towards class-d, out of interest what tops sounded the better from class-d?
I dont think I would have the room for the double 15s but may be ok with the single 15s :)

Justin's powered sub, while having a very impressive sound, is officially very heavy. ;) :D
Lighter, but then you need to carry an amp too....
Though not at the same time. Justin has now decided that having a spare 4u case, he's going to fill it with 50Kg of amp. ( which will be heavier than his sub! )

Justin can get the 215's in his escort estate. He may have to go for the CD12SP's if he doesn't get a trailer the CD15SP's are a bit on the big side.
The old 215s sounded really good, I now remember why I bought them as soon as I heard them. :D The CD15SP's were similar, just less bass that's all.

Thanks Excalibur I guess the Prof is in the pudding, the guys that say they are good yourself included are no mugs when it comes to sound systems so I reckon that's good enough for me to be convinced as I reckon if they were no good then there would not be as much talk about them, I honestly don't think I have seen so much good feedback from any other speaker company or should I say as talked about as Class-D.
My car is a little bigger than an Escort as its a Volvo V40 but not much bigger.
I know from 2 speakers am not gonna get exactly the sound I want eventually but as long as the sound is respectable for the time being then that will do until I can get a small van or whatever, then will buy the bins to match.
Thanks for spending the time in doing the test as I reckon it may have convinced a few others too.
Im swaying atm. My plan was to get DB tops and subs as i have a db sub already. I think i will stick with my plan but if Class-D bring out a better range then maby i would buy. I dont like the look of the metal grill. I prefer a foam grill.
I know most speakers have metal grills but im not to keen on them.

I beleive that the reason Class D are discussed so often on the forum is that, for what they cost, they seem too good to be true!
I also think it rubs some people up the wrong way to suggest that a cheaper option can sound as good, if not better than a more costly brand. 'Badge snobbery' can colour peoples views sometimes and I beleive that until you have actually listened to a particular product you should not pass judgement on it.
I do not use 'Class D' speakers but have heard the new CD15SP's and was quite suprised how good they sounded. I was not as keen on the older peizo models, although I've heard much worse. :)

I've got a 1000w version of this amp for my monitors and it has been a very good workhorse. The ratings are RMS. I run mine 8ohms per channel on a pair of Wharfdale Pro 15" + 1" full range cabs and it doesn't break a sweat! :)

Lighter, but then you need to carry an amp too....
This is quite true but it's much easier to carry as it's a more compact object and you can carry it closer to your body. I have a 4U rack case that has had amps in it before and is easily managed. The trouble with the SWA1501 is it's size AND weight. Especially carrying it down some stairs at the weekend, I got cramp in my right hamsting as I had to lean backwards to counter-act the weight, I just managed to get it to the car as the cramp kicked in (very painful)
If I'd had 2 subs, I wouldn't have managed the second!!!

Hya Daz that's a shame maybe its badge snobbery?
I know when I mentioned them to my mate he almost looked at me in disgust at the idea that they may be good for that price.
He also said at least I know I will be able to sell my Peaveys for a decent price, so I said but why would you want to sell them?
I am looking at it with this view yes they are cheaper speakers but with just setting up my own show if they sound respectable then that's all that matters.
If in the future I start thinking they are ok but not exactly what I want then they are perfect spares.
