Theft of Gear in Haverhill all ears open please

A DJ is offering a £250 reward for the return of thousands of pounds worth of equipment and CDs stolen as he unloaded it from his van into a pub.
xxx, who for a decade has operated under the name NW Entertainments, was setting up a disco at the Black Horse, in Camps Road, Haverhill when the white Transit van containing his gear was stolen from outside the pub, just before 4.30pm on Saturday.
Although the van was discovered 20 minutes later in nearby Fallowfield Court it had been emptied of equipment and CDs which will cost about £15,000 to replace.
Inside the van were eight Carlsboro speakers, two Carlsboro amplifiers, another amplifier in a flight case with a graphic equaliser, two light control units, six lighting effects, four VR8s, a black box with two sets of double CD players, mixing deck, a deck stand, goal post unit for hanging up lights, two 4ft by 2ft light boxes and 2,000 CDs.
Although he had a lready managed to unload most of the equipment and CDs needed to go ahead with the Black Horse disco a later show at the Birdbrook Tavern would have been impossible had his DJ friends not lent him equipment – for which xxx said he was very grateful.
xxx, 26, whose insurer will not pay out because the gear was stolen while still inside his van, said: "We are down to the bare minimum at the moment so it's going to be a struggle for the next couple of months unless we can get it back.
"Where we used to have four discos out in one night we can just about scrape together two.
"I think it takes us about ten minutes unloading it at least, so I think someone's pulled it up at a little lock up and unloaded it."

I Have edited it accordingly but as ever the idiot left keys in van whilst unloading and he has neither PLI nor Pat tested equipment like any responsible disco should like myself, nor was he carrying this amount of valued equipment in his van more like £2500 plus music.

He has had my sincere condolenses but thats about it more work for me LOL

I dont feel sorry for him as its his own fault but felt duty bound to let all know online as what to look out for in anglian region but it probably has all gone by now elsewhere

I would not leave the doors open or keys in the van thats asking for trouble. I always have a helper to unload or stay near the van, and this guy is a liar he's only been running for 5 years And is a nontax paying pirate show as we would say. I would be glad to see the back of him and his disco's in the area as a rival he does our industry no favours. So stuff sensitivity

I have offered to help cover any bookings he is unable to do alongside other disco's in my area. But I did begrudgingly, as like some other responsible disco's would agree with me these are the bane of our lives.

To be honest cowboy or not no one deserves to have gear nicked and I do feel sorry for him and as usual will keep eyes peeled for the gear. But leaving keys in van is a bit of duh moment really. When I unload I use a crooklock on the car even though it has immobiliser etc. Also I use the central locking and just unlock the boot between loads. I know you cant keep your eyes everywhere but I think basic security practices would stop this kind of thing.

Having had my kit go missing twice (I HAD JUST STARTED OUT AND DIDNT EVEN KNOW WHAT PAT AND PLI WAS SO OF COURSE DIDNT HAVE IT SO I GUESS I GOT WHAT I DESERVED HEY) i feel for the guy he has worked to afford that and someone has taken it just like that ...... last person to do it to me got their just desserts :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D and i hope this person does same as the people that took steves gear......

I honestly do like the guy, but he also does a regular Ice cream van round infact he owns 4 vans all working in the local area. Prehaps he should stick to what he knows best Acting cool selling the lollies.

I am working on other things within our industry locally in the disco/club scene buy doing DJ work again asa well as promoting my show whilst business is very tight around the local area

Anyone leaving there van doors OPEN with the KEYs in the ignition get what they DESERVE, but all disco's in the area are mucking in to help the idiot survive

He has even admitted that he is an idiot for losing the gear by leaving the van unlocked and with the keys in the ignition. He still has work but with only 2 disco's now rather than 4. I dont have to feel sorry for him at any level as this town is a dog eat dog town???? The more work he passes my way the better for me

We didn't ever set this up to get members to get PLI and PAT. We set it up to promote best practise and help new members and new DJs joining the industry.

The site has never been and never will be clicky. No-one has ever mentioned that apart from you Badger.

Is that what I did when Steve's stuff was nicked? No, I went onto as many forums as I could, sent emails to as many people in the industry as I knew and stated the facts and gave them the list of stuff that was stolen.

A. Never leave your keys in the van ignition

B. never leave the van unlocked.

C. Even though the disco is a rival help when asked to???

D. Promote as corbar mentioned BEST Practice and help new members and new DJs joining the industry.

E. promote the website at all times even occassionally via heated forum subjects (sometimes even these make the site prominent) LOL

I have to agree with 'most' of the people on here. I too feel sorry for they guy, yes it was foolish and he seems to be the first to suggest that. We all make mistakes, some more costly that others, but hopefully he will learn from this one! I bet he doesn't do it again.

You firstly do the right thing and put the news and plea up here for all to see and then what do you do??...You spoil it right at the end by showing your true colours and more or less say "Oh well, more work for me then!" (probably rubbing your hands togeather??).

But to have an honest opinion on this site is how I will continue to be,
