Looking for help with a rattle from a speaker.

When turned up there is a hell of a rattle from the cab. Place your hand on the back and it stops.
Took it apart cab seems in solid condition internally. No damage and everything where it should be.

A couple of screw were missing so I replaced these thinking that would sort it but unfortunately I was wrong.

Any Ideas? :please:

Have the cabs been banged about in anyway?
If so it maybe that the ply or mdf cabinet has come loose,

Have you also checked that the driver is secured properly?

Peavey UL 215

Sounds like a split in the timber on the cabinet--or needs more screws to hold the back on? Are all the screws tightening down properly?

If all else fails---

Phone Peavey Corby for advice after Monday

Had a similar problem on a pair of peavey pro's once. Just sent them back for replacement so never found out what it was.

Had the same problem with ul15's,It was the back plate on mine. I just plugged screw holes up with splinters of wood and re screwed back on to hand tight, if screws spin and won't tighten anymore the plate rattles.

Pro 15s dont rattle:D

Well mine dont.:D :D :D

The warranty should be 5 years, bought mine just over 3 years ago.

It says so on the original speaker packing boxes I have here in 6 inch letters.

How old are your speakers? Too old for the warranty ?

Out of interest have you checked this section?

We had a slight distortion at one point on one of the ULs and removed the top section cleaned and put back and solved the problem, apparently if these are not seated properly (possibly due to a knock) then it can cause distortions and possibly a rattle sound.

Perhaps the Pro series has a 5 year warranty then, but the guy from peavey said it was 2 years on all enclosures because after i explained the fault i asked about warranty, But alas i have invalidated mine anyway by fitting castors (perhaps they have had too many come back and thus reduced to 2 years)

Thanks I will check that but I dont feel its likely as you can stop the rattle when you put your hand against the back

Depends what T and Cs you bought on.

As I said--bought mine 3 yrs ago and I have the packaging here as proof of the 5 yr warranty and the dealers receipt.

Course to say 2 yrs is completely wrong--under Sale of Goods Act that is invalidated---depends on reasonable wear and tear etc.

Local Trading Standards etc can get involved.

But you claim against the dealer not Peavey directly.

Cant see fitting castors invalidates anything.

Take the cabs apart--ok thats different:eek:

If you want some advice ring me:D

Im going to watch the predictable rubbish on TV now:eek:
