Does anyone have any experience of, and recommendations for, any video editing software? It's been a few years since I've done any, I used to use Pinnacle Studio but apparently that sucks for HD and quality, now.

Must be able to handle HD quality.

Adobe Premiere Pro

Not cheap, but very good.

I have used Magix for a number of years I found it better and easier to use than Pinnacle. Its £26-29 and you can see it here (http://www.magix.com/uk/movies-on-cd-dvd/detail/).

If you want to just chop a few bits around then Windows Movie Maker is included in the Microsoft Package--far as I know--mine came with XP.

I find it works for simple projects--anything else you may well need to buy software.

HD-im not sure?

To clarify - I was looking for a "professional" package as I'll be using it for business, adding it as a service I offer. Budget? Not sure, but around £500 - £1,000ish if it's worth it.

Currently looking at Sony Vegas Pro (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-Vegas-Pro-8-PC/dp/B000VVC01A/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2?ie=UTF8&s=software&qid=1206551532&sr=8-2), as the camera is a Sony so they should work well together.

well the industry standards for professional none linear editing software are:

Avid
Premiere
Final Cut Pro

All great pieces of software and all have their qwerks and good points... Best thing to do is get a demo of all of them to find out which you find easier to use...
