Cancelled Wedding

I just got a letter cancelling a July Wedding, no reason given.

I only do about 1 Wedding a month on average and I have received a decent non refundable booking fee so not all bad news:D

Wondered what the general experience is of those of you regularly covering Weddings throughout the year?

Do you get many cancelled--I only ask because I cant remember the last cancelled Wedding:confused:

Clealrly it can be a range of factors including a fall out between B and G:(

I haven't had a wedding cancel yet - in fact the only cancellation I've had was a xmas eve disco at my local residency. Unfortunately there is no contract (I don't think he'd sign one if I had one). Got to go out instead but was a bit peeved because I was kind of banking on the money. NYE made up for it tho.

Can't remember the last cancelled wedding. I had one postponed from this year to next year due to groom being posted to Iraq...

Get the odd cancellation every now and then for various reasons but no more recently than in the past. As you say at least the booking fee takes some of the sting out of it.

Yeah, I get or come to know of through the conpany I sub to one or two a year, and as many, or slightly more, postponements.

Don't get too many cancellations - have one TBC for a wedding I need to chase up. Also had a booking today for a mate whos "mate" has messed him about - so asked me to be on standby - then his missus grabbed the phone and booked me on a "just name your price Leigh" basis.

Funniest thing I had recently was someone cancelling me for a christening disco I said I couldn't do this coming weekend due to holidays and told them the first time round.... just a very odd phone call.

About 2 hours later i got another email saying that they wont be needing me as the husband of the groom's mother had already booked another dj.

The annoying this was i actually spoke to the groom to be to arrange a meeting and have a chat about it.

I dont know if this counts at all. ???

Never had a wedding cancellation before.(75% of my bookings from may to september are weddings).So i consider myself to be fortunate on the wedding bookings.

Phoned to chase up late contract to find out i'm no longer needed as they can get one cheaper. Must start thinking about deposits.

Use a non refundable booking fee--that way you have some sort of security if you get blown out--

We dont normally wait for maore than 3 weeks for that to be paid otherwise booking is cancelled--some DJs T and Cs state there is NO booking until deposit/booking fee paid and Contract signed.

Im sure people on here would give you draft wordings for T and Cs.

A few cancellations before using booking forms and collecting deposits. (Fingers crossed) none since starting collecting - and insisting - on deposits. Speaks for itself !!

The problem is replacing quality bookings like these unless its a long way off?

Im thinking of putting a 60 day cancellation clause on Weddings for next year.

Had a call from agency today to say my wedding next saturday is cancelled due to B&G split up. Was lucky I got the call when I did cause I was going to phone the B&G tonight to discuss final requirements!!!

At least I will get a cancelation fee. Feet up Sat night!

Do I look bothered? My prices have gone up by £30 since cancelled one, so I shall get more money! :D :D

I've only ever had one wedding show cancelled. It wasn't so bad cos, instead of costing me money it actually saved me money. The show was to be my wedding present to a mate and his (now ex) lass cos he ran off with somebody else a few days before the big day!

My boss (that I sub-contract to) doesn't, but I do.

He charges a $200 partially refundable deposit (they get $100 back if he rebooks), but he's only charging me out at $675. I, on the other hand, charge myself out at $900 with a $450 deposit of which half is refundable if a replacement booking is gained.

Morning everyone. Been a few weeks since I got chance to chat on here due to schedule - generally feeling a bit 'kn@ckered'... But I saw the post about cancelled weddings.

I've only ever had one wedding cancelled but because I already knew the wedding had been on-off-on-off-on for several months I got a hefty non-refundable deposit so I wasn't too concerned. It was a mid-week wedding last year.

I've had that happen for a birthday party! Phoned to discuss final arrangements and was told they'd got a cheaper disco! They weren't gonna get a cheaper "ME" so good luck to 'em.

I've tightened up my T&Cs to cover deposits etc., And, like all of us, am learning all the time.
