Stealing My Stamps

This is really starting to annoy me.

When I send out my booking forms I also supply another envelope with my address and a 1st clas stamp.


A couple of times clients have taken off the 1st class stamp and are replacing them with a 2nd class stamp. :eek:


Has anybody had this problem?

Blimey, they must hard up.
By the way, it makes you wonder what happens to the poor little second class stamps in the sorting office.
Do you think that they throw them into a corner and leave them there for a few days. :D :D

Have you considered getting prepaid business mail reply envelopes ?

I was thinking about it. I had a look at the royal mail website and they provide this service. Its £5 a month or £50 a year but that does not include the postage for what you are sending. You have to pay this on top of the £5 or £50. TBH i dont think its worth it at the moment

Could do. I prefer 1st class as i try ti give the impression that im not doing things cheaply but if this is the case then it will have to be done.

but why does it matter.
you are willing to pay for 1st class- cant see the point of paying extra for prepaid.
i send all mine by email anyway- much better to be able to get it to the customer instantly.

I've not had this problem, but I've never sent out envelopes with stamps on.

As far as I'm concerned, if they can afford to pay for my disco, then they can afford to pay for their own envelope & stamp to return the booking form.

I've never had that problem. Seems a wee bit cheeky if you ask me. :lol:

I also send out stamped addressed envelopes with the booking pack. The main difference I've found since supplying the stamped envelope is that the forms are returned much quicker in most circumstances, compared to when I didn't supply them.

Although I made a flippant remark earlier in the thread, I email all my clients a booking form and Terms & Conditions form, they then fill the booking form out sign both and return it with the appropriate booking fee. They pay for the envelope and the stamp!

After receipt I confirm the booking in writing, enclose a copy of the booking form also signed by me and if required copies of my PLI and Pat certificates, to finish off I enclose three business cards. I then pay for the envelope and 1st class stamp

I agree with above, if people are paying upwards of £150 for a disco, surely they can afford a stamp. I never send SAE's. I think it's cheeky taking off the 1st and putting a 2nd but you must admit, kinda funny too :D

I didn't use to send a SAE but do now and as Shaun says, you do seem to get the paper work back quicker. At present interest rates, I must get at least 0.024p extra interest by getting the deposit cheque banked earlier :)

I didn't use to send a SAE but do now and as Shaun says, you do seem to get the paper work back quicker.

If you want the booking forms & deposits back quicker, there's a cheaper & easier way than enclosing an SAE.....just put something in your terms & conditions (and in the letter you send with your booking form).

My terms state that the booking form & deposit must be returned within 14 days. I rarely have to chase anyone, and most clients return them in about a week...so it's not a problem.

I can't believe people would go the effort of swapping them over, that is unreal.

I'm not sure what the difference between 1st and 2nd class is anyway, in terms of letters, they are all treated the same (my friend used to work in the local sorting office). Sending a parcel by 1st class however, is definitely quicker.

I do a bit more than licking the stamp. I have even used double sided sticky tape and someone still managed to take off the stamp. This is not a joke either. Completely honest.

I use second class stamps and 5 x 2p stamps. Might sound odd but I often choose to send things second (not booking forms but maybe questionnaires etc.).

Stick the stamp on with that stuff you put on your nails to stop you biting them, see if you get any comments back, if you do you know what they been up to :D

Or use Smartstamp (http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm/jump2?catId=400046&mediaId=600023&keyname=SMARTSTAMP) and print the stamps on the envelopes - you can also add your logo to the print :)

My thoughts exactly. I always get a quick reply, but most of my gigs are posh weddings? With new DJ forms I supply a SAE to encourage them to send it back quicker.
