Blackberry anyone...?

Does anyone use a 'Blackberry' and if so any good?

Have a chance of getting one really cheap......i can see the plus side, able to answer calls and get a quote to them quickly....
Downside......you look a pratt.....

I have one. I have got the Curve 8300.

I think its a really good, reliable phone.

I have 2 email accounts setup from my web hosting hosting like my [email protected]

Quite good if you are not in the office but still need to keep in contact with people.


The only thing I would say is dont bother installing any other programs as this will make the phone slow and sluggish. Games are ok but nothing else.

If you have preset templates for quotes and only have to type in punters name and price on your PC--that might be good--assuming you could get the template up on the blackberry and actually do that?

Otherwise if you have to send a shortened version saying--yeah its £250 pounds (with no supporting information) I wouldnt bother.

How many e mail quotes get accepted immediately because you replied quickly--none in my case--telephone calls are different--often I clinch the deal on the phone call even if im the first to be called.

I get the impression its great if your walking around a City catching buses or trains or sitting in the pub --otherwise cant see it.

I got a booking corresponding with a client who had a Blackberry--she worked in London and spent most of the day in the City ( and pubs) so it was convenient to use--if you spend a lot of time near a PC or drive a lot maybe not?

I carry a small laptop with a 3G modem (broadband speeds on the move).

Tried various smartphones over the years and dislike them.

I also carry a simple checkbox diary in my pocket, so if I'm caught out and can't get the laptop running I can give a quick yes/no we're booked and then call back asap to run through the details.

i've got a blackberry for my day job and its fine- not ideal to type long emails on but handy nonetheless.

havent bothered swapping my personal mobile because i cannot think for one moment that someone would not book you because you didnt reply immediately.
if it was that urgent they would call my mobile.

handy things though.
