4 channel mixer for back up.

Can anyone suggest a 4 channel mixer for back up only.......this will be used for emergencies only but would like a 'quality' mixer just in case..

I have a 2 channel spare at the moment...but feel a 4 maybe required....am i right??

Going to be using a Denon 500....not suggesting anything will go wrong but would like one just in case........money wise...'cheap as chips'....would even consider 2nd hand.....

Don't laugh too much, but since you used the word " Back up" may I suggest the one I use. Cheap, all required bits, plus machine gun, bomb,etc etc.:D :D

Yes i think it has.......:) .....but i'm green....what's that mean? :)

It means that you can plug in 2 different sources to the same channel and just flick a switch to use the other source, hence not really needing the 4 channels for a back up mixer.

If you want the Numark mixeer though, speak to me first. ;)

As mentioned earlier the MMX-410 is good. Its my main one, but i really like it and never had any trouble

And don't ask for the link, but there is a Disco advertising the fact that they use that mixer on his website. :eek:

It's very sensitive on the sliders and the PFL is a pain, but it does its job well.

I use a phonic AM440 for my main set up.

Been extremely reliable and you can put your mike through it as well.

I use it for Mini Disc and the two channels of the Cortex--I use standard jack inputs.

Fairly small as well--no faders just knobs--- but in an emergency :D

This is an interesting thread. I currently use powered mixers so I don't have the need for separate mixers and amps. But I'm currently thinking about a new system and I'm tempted to get individual items. I think this thread will give me an insight in to which mixers to considers but can anyone recommend a decent amp for around £200-£300? I've been looking at KAM cos I've got some other KAM stuff but I'm not sure if KAM gear could withstand the level of work I've got lined up for it!

My other preference is powered/active speakers up to £500 pair. Can anyone recommend?

Save an extra £200 and get Mackie SRM450s. Having said that, I sold mine in immaculate condition for £550 with covers, so look out for some bargains.

Is that for a pair or per speaker? I've seen them online for £345 each but that's a little over my budget until later in the year when I get the income from the wedding discos. I might just wait for them.

At the moment, I have put together a budget sound system using (don't laugh!) a Soundlab G742 power mixer (specially adapted with an extra 2 high-powered ultra-quiet internal cooling fans as the mixer seemed to get a bit too warm for my liking plus a couple of internal tweaks) with a pair of ProLight 15" speakers. The whole setup (including high quality speaker cables) came in at just under £600 and it's already made it's money back several times over. I needed a quick and simple setup when my StudioMaster mixer's fan malfunctioned and burnt out the whole thing - in the middle of an afternoon wedding disco! I didn't have a spare with me but a local dj lived about 2 minutes from the venue and loaned me one of his (I'm still grateful to this day!).
