Got wedding bookings coming out of my ears at the moment and i would like to start doing more corporate. I want to do all form of events with different services other than DJing such as

- Event planning / management
- Sound / light hire
- Lighting schemes (uplighters, washes, m heads etc.)
- Master of ceremony
- Live music and obviously DJing :p

What's the most effective marketing tools for this sector? I assume networking events, mail outs and the website best. I am probably wrong!

I want quick results, with minimal costs? Printing stuff like posh brochures etc. is not a problem as i own a printing company.

Any comments are very welcome :)

You'll find that in business, the two don't normally mix, certainly if customer satisfaction and longevity are on your agenda.

I would be tempted to create a new website aimed solely at the corporate market.

Thanks for replies :)

I would be tempted to create a new website aimed solely at the corporate market.

Yes i thinking of that. I think my site will do for now as with google it will direct them straight to the corporate page (ie dj, corporate search):

What do you recon?

with the "quick and easy statement", what i meant is many people waste time trying things that don't work in marketing! I spent three days distributing flyers around the New Forest and did not get any positive leads!

I have been to wedding fairs most sundays. This is hard work and expensive but i get maximum results from it (ie perfect customers and gigs (posh hotels etc. with personal interaction direct with the client they tend to be more inclined to book me too).

What about a stall like this in corporate trade fairs and networking gigs?

You will find that the corporate gigs of say over 100 people are normally handled by the event companies who the put in the whole event. ie: all the add ons staging, theming, casino tables, close-up. The list is endless and so is the amount of discos that do this work and is very much a closed shop. It has a lot to do with the people you know. It is a good start getting to know friends who work for the bigger companies and getting a foot in the door that way. Most of the larger corporate work I do comes from the event company and larger hotels that I have done work for years and know them.
The way the money world is at the moment corporate work is very thin on the ground and there is not a lot of new work around.

Totally agree with Ace. Many big corporate clients use a PR/Event Management company to arrange their events. In turn, the PR/Event Management companies use sub-contractors to provide these services. Very often, PR companies are run out of small offices to maximize income potential as they have a select number of service providers to do the job. You need to get in touch with the PRs and offer your services. Provide them with photos/video footage of you working and with testimonials from satisfied customers. Basically, sell your services to them in a way that, at least, makes them want to find out more. These events really are where the good money is, especially is you're good and the client has a big budget.

Had a look at your website and it's not bad. There are a few copy issues that you need to look at. Get someone with a good understanding of English language to look at it from a clients perspective and they'll be able to point out the errors and suggest ways to reword things to come over more professional. I'm not suggesting that you're understanding of English isn't up to the job but it's always helpful get another perspective on things. The best companies employ proof-readers and copy editors to do just this.

Also, not sure if it's just my installation of Firefox but there seems to be a few layout issues as well. I'm not a web designer so I cannot help on this front but I'm sure someone one the forum will.

Good luck with this venture. It can be difficult to break in to but, if you're like me, you'll relish the challenge!

Blimey! Reading that back once posted, there's a few copy errors/typos so maybe I take my own advice before posting!

In my defence, it's been a long day at work and my eyes (and fingers!) are tired.

Just noticed you live down the New Forest. Bournemouth is the Masonic capital of the UK. There are hundreds of function happening down there.
Tap into the Masonic Market visit the hotels in the town and around you should pick up some corporate work from that angle. I have done a lot myself down there and I live 120 miles away.
I agree with DazzyD the wording in your website needs a little tightening up. and maybe your home page is miles to long.
