Retro Lighting ??

Have just come back from the local Car Boot with a pair of Mathmos Space Projectors (£5 for both !! :) ) complete with oil wheels. Never heard of them before but reckon it's a bargain as I've since found out they're 60'ish quid each online. Nice effect and replacement wheels/gobos are available for around a tenner.

Retro nights are about to become considerably more authentic....now where did I put the 'Fuzz' lights ???? :D

arent they the lava lamp manufacturers- good stuff but may only be suitable for home use- not sure how poerful the are.

I think that's right. If you want a good modern oil wheel projector I use one made by Martin which replaced my old Rank Tutor 2 a couple of years back. It is brilliant. Much better and user friendly than the old projectors. You can still buy 6" oil wheels from Optikinetics too.

Well I would guess they're about 20 watt and over the 28 feet of my garage project around 8ft circles of bright psychadelia :cool:

Will have to try them at a gig venue and get some pics.

Still for a fiver...how can you go wrong ? ;)

Woudnt have thought they would have much effect in a disco enviroment.. but good find though.. let us know how they go.

Unless it is a very small dark room I dont think 20w will be powerful enough unless you use them for back projection onto a screen. The earliest oil wheel projectors I used back in 1969 were 50w. The early optikinetics were 100w and my current Martin is 250w.

Exactly as I want it :) as a background fill with movement & mood.
Don't want them too bright or they will detract from the more powerful lighting and overall effect of the show. I already have roomfillers up to 600 watt, if needed.
Anyway I'll see how they go and let you know.;)

I'm agreeing with everyone on this 20w isn't anything these days. the smallest lighting effects you can buy these days are 50w...

But on the other hand the bulbs in my light screens are only 15w each and they are pretty bright. they still stand out from my other effects but mind you they don't shine through oil which will take some of the brightness away.

Personally i would'nt bother it will be like a fly on an elephants a:Censored:. You won't beable to notice it unless your looking for it:D

In a way I agree but with screen and other boxes lights is that there are lots of lamps/bulbs in one box which would look a lot brighter.

Lightscreens are going to be very different to progecting a light onto a wall i'm afraid.
