So far, the only calls I've had have been from YP themselves...

im ringing to enquire about your discos or id like to know some information about the services you offer

and some ..... not all from the yp price is the be all and end all you try and outline the service you offer and the phone goes dead or they stop you mid sentence with ..."IIIIII JJJUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUSSSSSSSSTTTTTTTT WWWWWAAAAAANNNNNNNAAAAAAAA KKKKKKKKNNNNNOOOOOOOWWWW AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWW MUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCH!!!!!!!!!

Thats all that is being said i had this conversation just last night ... yes lord and lady farquat in tidy manor get a yp ..... but so do dippy dave and his good lady mental melanie who live with their 27 children in a one bedroom flat above the offy. :D :D :D

Because if it's a free ad (like mine is), it only shows your business name, address & phone number, so they have no way of knowing the price before they call, hence them asking this first.


All your other enquiries never ask for a price then?

In my case, That's right...because all my other advertising is done online, complete with links to my website, which shows my prices. Therefore they don't need to ask for a price when they make an enquiry, as they already know it, apart from people who get my number from YP.

Agree. I mostly do weddings in hotels and normally they ask about what you do, where you have played, if available, lights etc etc. They then ask about price. These are the enquiries I like because they are booking you for your service not looking for the cheapest. I also like people asking for references because then you know they are serious about having a 'good' disco not just a 'cheap disco'.

Obviously a lot of enquiries start with the 'how much?'. I always ask for the date first to make sure I am free and often people do not have a date which makes me a bit suspicious.

I had one of these on Sunday night. Phone rings,

Callert: how much is ya disco mate?
Me: well depends on various things like where when times etc
Caller: well it's a family birthday party
Me: what date times?
Caller: 7 -12
Me: what venue
Caller: one of the hotels on the prom
Me Which hotel
Caller: Don't know yet
Me: that will be £xxx quoting a nice high price that they won't go for because they want an £80 cowboy and I don't want to work in a dive hole which is most hotels in Balckpool.

I love yellow pages, and yes you've probably guessed I'm a self confessed snob like Dragonfly!
