Does anyone use the above light.
Am looking for a couple of cheap yet effective lights for a second rig and wonder if these are ok or if would be better using others.

Other light will be used, impossibled, stormbird etc but would like these for basic lighting - beginning of night etc.

Demo'd them a few times.
They are not very bright, its about the same as the 50 watt normal lamp'd version it replaced.

Ditch the stormbird!

Used the very similar GoboSplash last year and got rid of it in months due to it not being very bright at all. it's a 250w bulb but the projection on the floor looks more like 50w-100w.
The one thing i did like about the effect is the sensitivity control on the back of the unit. just turn it right down for first and slow dances works a treat as it slowly scrolls thought the gobos. perfect for early evening as well.

I wouldn't waste your money mate.

Can't help you with the penguin tho:o

only dealings i've had with penguins were when they first came out I went to my trusted supplier at the time to demo them and was told to look elsewhere as they had had a batch that most had been returned as .......... the brackets had fallen off them :eek: :eek: :eek:


this was a few years ago and im sure no longer a problem but i would look elsewhere , there is some superb led effects coming out now.

Thanks for info.
Am looking for similar style lights to the penguin ie reflect off mirror as opposed to the light shining straight out.
Any suggestions ???

Exactly sort of thing am looking for. Going for LED as not wanting great brightness and looking for long-lasting.
Am wanting the lights to replace the t-max lights from maplins (yes maplins) which I have been using. I know they are rubbish compared to better lights but work well for me in a hotel where I do a lot of weddings. They are actually complimented a lot by guests. Problem is they keep burning out.
