Hi all,

ok where are we, oh yes, I am going back to running a disco company. Regarding the hotel, lets just say i aint there anymore, dont really want to go into it now.

However as stated i am going to start up my own company again, i dont wish to call it Lewnics as i really want to start afresh, and to be honest that name caused more problems than anything - people couldn't locate website etc.

So i need a new name, i fancied dancing beats but alas found that someone else has it :( so any good idea's?

Shaun you just know your going to get a phone call about design etc don't you lol, and marc, well i already PM'd you lol

As alluded to by Marc...

... don't think locale, roadshow/entertainments/discos

... think Google.

That's where an increasing amount of your work will be coming from, so pick something that you can base a good web presence on that isn't readily confused with other local (or distant) businesses. Get yourself a "clean" page on google yet with some kind of meaning, and you're laughing. Register all the domain variants (and close misses).

ie. I have vectisvibe.co.uk, .com, vectisvibes.co.uk & .com and a bunch of others.

Google "VectisVibe" and ALL the Top10 hits lead to me. In fact it's not until you get to hit 42 that it starts to go squiffy.

Yes but.... if someone is searching for a disco and doesn't already have someone in mind.. they wouldn't search VectisVibe would they

Just reinforcing the point that it's an ideal opportunity to focus on building a strong brand identity rather than joining the ranks of Daves Discos.

I looked up names in the top right hand box on this link:

http://dc-hosting.com/

I found YOURDJ was already owned by a guy in my city by the who is service. I wrote to him and bought it off him for £50. I also bought all his gear as he has quit djing.

Anything with dj or disco is a good bet :)

If the domain is free then there's nothing stopping Garry registering it. Radio Forth can't trademark or copyright the word "Forth" and more than Stelios can for "Easy".....;)

not saying he can`t use it just that people might link it sub conciously to forth one, can be a good or bad thing depending on how you look at it.

It could be anything really, so purple could work. I thought the gold and silver had a regal and classy feel to it.

I'd go for the first one myself, there's something about the main font used - it's good for "Kingdom" but doesn't look great for "Beats".

ahh shaun, thats brilliant - as usual....god i hope i get some cash in soon. Oct 11th Provisionally booked already :)

Dont think i have lost the touch when it comes to selling myself.

Planning on getting some A5 flyers done (£99 for 5000 from theinkshop.biz), I will hopefully learn from the last time and really bump up the marketing for the first year at least, i now know not to get too despondent if the works not flooding in, the first year is about selling the brand and heavy advertising.

Plus gives me a chance to service the equiptment and get it all PAT tested - on saying that i have a very good friend who is a PAT tester lol, so hopefully that will be cheaper than normal.

Just out of intrest, where would you hand out these flyers??? I was thinking about doing this but have no idea where to start.

Danno13
17-04-2008, 09:14 PM
I'd send them to venues, wedding planners, florists, bridal shops etc. accompanied by a nice introduction letter :) Oh, and schools, colleges and unis would probably be a good idea too.

Candybeatdiscos
17-04-2008, 09:16 PM
i would fisrt of all start at local businesses, factories etc and ask them to be put up on staff boards etc, this first of all gets seen by a lot of people etc, i would also post through doors of some of the more shall we say expensive looking houses as to be honest i am not going to be looking for £100 jobs.

If i can i will pop a code on the flyers and if they use the code and book via the net then they will get 10% off etc.

Candybeatdiscos
17-04-2008, 09:18 PM
cheers danno that is also well advised, again i am looking for maximum exposure this time round, as i have a lot of competition, but then again i dont - i will let the rest fight for the £100 jobs and will concentrate soley on performing a quality and recommendable show to my clients and hopefully be rewarded accordingly.

The connection is the company name. Crown - Kingdom. I could have opted for the usual 'dj related image', but the crown tied in nicely with the design concept I chose for the first sample.

It's only fair to say that this is just my interpretation of what his logo could look like. The design process (when we begin) will be based around the vision he has for his logo. :beer1:

I like them both but i like the colour of the first one as in the cream/champagne type colour. To me that tell me that this DJ works for high end people. I'm thinking about using those type colours in my new website im designing now.

Anyway...

nah we have black for a funneral too mate, i know we are another country but we are not too far removed from engerlund, purple is the colour of the scottish heather, and purple/silver reminds me too much of the millenium as that seemed to be the colour scheme many up here used for decoration at that time.

Candybeatdiscos

also purple is the colour of buckfast aint it - so i suppose its a national colour

Corabar Steve
18-04-2008, 09:01 AM
That's not what I was told a few years back when a scots friend was married. Their mother insisted no guests wore any purple as it was a funeral colour & therefore unlucky to be worn at a wedding.

Candybeatdiscos
18-04-2008, 02:25 PM
i know that where asian weddings are considered purple is an unlucky colour - i think its japanese weddings, white is a universal funneral colour rather than black, i am searching google and cant find any reference to purple being a funneral colour
