i have just had a booking come in for a 21st party and guess where she found me yes thats right the website people have been talking about PARTY pop.com.
and i am only on a free listing.
the person booking asked wanted to know what music i played and then asked if i was available on the date she wanted and then asked the price.

I've just had an email from party pop telling me our phone number on our listing with them is wrong. Which is odd for 2 reasons.

1, We haven't listed with them
2, It was the correct number & they say that they rang us on it & it didn't work

They've tried calling me on my mobile and 0845 number numerous times leaving messages saying they want to check my listings are correct, and I've never signed up with them, or even visted their site!

I think "con" is a bit strong a word.

When I first found us on their website without even knowing about it first, I thought of the word "scam" but I've mellowed a bit since then.

I think they're simply using hard-sell tactics after listing companies for free - all perfectly legal in this country, unfortunately. I got our "free" listing removed within 24 hours of asking - it's amazing what the threat of legal action can do. ;)

If it's generating enquiries for some people then good luck to them. Like Alan, however, our position of 'not touching them with a bargepole' isn't likely to change any time soon.

When I asked for our "free" listing to be removed, I actually said to them that I'd consider a future paid-for ad if they could provide me with stats regarding how successful their service is (i.e. no. of generated enquiries, enquiry to sale conversion rate, website hits, etc) but they can't be that bothered as they haven't replied yet.
