First Dance lighting, Just sold all my lights...what now?

Ok folks

I normally use my xp5s on chill mode for the first dance, but now I've sold them and my EVL spins!

So, at the moment I have

2 impossibled
6 led par cans
1 cluster laser
2 mad LED panels
1 KAM LED panel

So, what do you recommend for the first dance? par cans pointing at ceiling? or buy another type of light?

I use movers and such so not what i do but can give you an idea..

I would poss think about using the led cans on the roof / dance floor (whatever makes the venue look good - giving good visuals!) .. maybe on a pink / blue setting - could be changing between the two?!

Then if it were me with your set up (and you didn't want to invets more) I might consider spending a little bit on a couple of par spots and a rotating 30cm mirror ball.

Just my 2p worth.

Exactly what i was going to say, just can't beat a mirror ball but i don't use a pin spot, I use a 500w spot (origionaly a follow spot) looks amazing

I would agree with the above, think about a spot, mirror ball and mirror ball rotator, shouldn’t be too much.


Richard did you have to modify the follow spot?
That seems like a good idea as it got more power but aren’t they a bit big? :confused:

Some followspots are quite small.. they are basically over sized profiles :).
Not sure what you mean by modification.
We can reduce beam size, intensity etc on the standard spots so if anything they are convenient to use as the focus on the ball can be changed.
Maybe it would be better if he said that he uses a profile as it reduces the confusion of the image of a huge followspot :)

Mirrorballs are a good idea and a couple of pinspots or colour changers would be fine.

:) I was only guessing but I'm pretty sure he doesn't use something like a Robet Juliat super korigan like I operate at the theatre :D
