PAT Testing & PL insurance

Hi guys and gals as a newcomer can anyone advise me where to go to get PAT tests done on what are only a few items cheap? Is it necessary on brand new equipment?
Also what sort of cost is involved?
Similar question abou PL insurance but just concerned about cost.

PAT testing - look around, ring a few companies and also, sounds an obscure idea - ring one or two other local DJs and ask who does theirs.

PLI - Musicians Union or DJ Guard seem to be the two choices.

Use DJ guard for liability/insurance and look in Y.Pages for specialist PAT people, worth the extra money if you have a claim.

Yeah, definately get a few quotes though, I was quoted anything from £4.50 per item to over £7.00 per item :eek: . Some companies do special deals i.e. 20 items for £75, this is what I did. However, I now have a couple of extra pieces which need doing but it shouldn't cost much.

Another alternative if you're finding it hard to pay out all at once (and ideal if you're not planning on 'going out' just yet) is to stagger the tested items, i.e. get 2 items per month (will probably be more costly in the long run though - just an idea).

For PLI, it depends on how muvh you want cover for, but as mentioned above, DJGuard is probably the best bet.
