I recieved a phone call last week about a bookng for this weekend at a pub in Alton, in a hall just off the back of it.
They also booked for me for another evening a few weeks down the line. Now i asked the lady to drop me an email to confirm the times and excat location etc.
I havent had an email and havent heard anything from the client at all. Im now wondering wether the booking is taken place this Saturday, and as to where the hell it is ??????????
What would you do ??? ( apart from ring all the pubs in alton )

I know this won't help, but why on earth didn't you take her phone number or any basic details? Do people learn nothing from here? A contract or confirmation should have been sent from your end to her.
How many pubs are there in Alton?
Here's a start http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/results.shtml/el/Alton%3BHampshire/

Have a read through the list I posted a minute ago.
This is the very reason I don't give out my mobile number on the answer phone. How do you know availability in the car?
Surely she must have told you the venue? She can't have said, "It's in a pub in Alton"?

No, she did. i just cant remember excatly what she said.
Should have pulled over, regretting it now. Just spoke to one pub, they have a private function there Saturday, she's just ringing the client to find out who the disco is ?

Well, good luck with it and I hope you sort it out.
Now repeat after me.
I will take details and send a confirmation for every booking I take. :p

My thoughts exactly. Bet she was ringing from work though, to save money, and the switchboard didn't send caller ID! ;) ;) :( :(

This would have been my first reaction. Call Memory>Received Calls. I always ask if they are calling from their own number and if so, record the number stored on the phone.
But then again, I don't drive so never have to take calls at the wheel (mind you, I've taken quite a few at the pub!)

I have spoken to Mark, the problem is, his land line is on divert to his mobile, so he will only get his own number. But I have suggested (subject to availability) checking his land line supplier on line.

With Caller ID and a call log on the home phone, he would have possibly been OK.;)

Your assuming that, these are in place. He may not have those services.

Sure ain't any way to run a business! I have no sympathy whatsoever as you probably broke the #1 rule.
On a practical level:
Do you check your spam folder regularly? Sometimes it is possible to retrieve emails that have been considered spam but aren't. It might be an idea to change your settings to allow more emails through, or if you can make sure that all spam is only deleted with your approval.
