strobe light

hi guys,

need to get hold of a strobe light for a club night im doing...

need it ideally by thurs so be quick in advising!:D

basically im looking to spend around £70, what do you recommend?

Might be worth increasing the budget slightly (unless you can find a good one second hand).
Most strobes in the lower price region are not powerful enough and basically are an annoying flash... without actually getting the cool effect!

Hmm. the FireCracker is probs more than enough power.
Make sure you read up on strobe rules though.....
Personally I hardly ever use them... for obvious reasons.

You still need to check out the rules as you will be the one who is responsible for it, I would have thought?

Just remember how tight the rules and regulations are around using strobe lighting!!!

From memory:

1.You must advertise on entrance to the venue that strobe lighting will be used.

2.You must verbally announce that you are using strobe lighting through the night and must announce before you use the unit.

3.And most importantly it must be set no faster than 6fps and most be used no longer than 30 in one burst.

(there are also rules regarding how much you can use the effect in an hour but i can't remember how long.)

All I'm saying is be careful and make sure their is no one that suppers from the effects of this unit.

I used to use a large strobe light until these rules and regulations came into force. The nearest i use these days is the "strobe" feature built into my Puma's which seems to do the job well enough without all the hassle.

Not sure about announcing the use before the strobe is used. Unless that is just specific to discos?
We announce strobe lighting in the theatre at the beginning of the perfomance and that is it.. or maybe that is what you meant.:S
