I personally don't see the point, g-clamps are dead quick anyway and cheap! Not worth it for saving less than 5 seconds per light, besides I still can't see how these can be as safe as g-clamps. Yes, i know they're tested/rated etc. but just the sheer design of a g-clamp means its always going to be safer.

I fell asleep after 30 seconds....

Why make a video for 9 minutes that could be explained in 2 minutes?

TBH I don't think it looks that strong. Its a pin which is held in place with another pin if that the correct way of putting it.

Give me a G-Clamp anyday.

To be fair the original video was about the height of the light?

Yeah and the matter of a few inches saved, making it hardly worth it.

Just what I was thinking.

I bet those clamps cost a bit more than a standard g-clamp, and I don't really see the point.

If I wanted my lights a few inches higher, I wouldn't waste money on those clamps...I'd just have my lighting stand a bit higher.

Job done!

I think is point is it's good for venues with low ceilings

Maybe for those that have the lights above their head, but not for me.

I have the lights at the side of me, so it's not a problem to lower them if the ceiling isn't too high.

You're not getting the point. Those few inches could make tha difference between the lights going over somebody's head of in their eyes.

I admit I don't really understand what you're saying, Steve.

I would have thought that whether lights go in someones eyes or not is just as much to do with the angle they are set at as the height of the stand they're fixed to.

Not really true Rob. The mistake most DJs make is they don't get the stand high enough. The higher the stand the less likely the beams are to go in someones eyes.

However with low ceilings and stands that don't go that high it's not always possible to do that.

If you imagine one of Jamie's truss cubes and the lighting is all facing down as it is nice and high and will be projecting onto the tops of peoples heads and the floor rather than in their eyes. (unless they look up of course!)

Ahhhh, ok...thanks for clarifying that Darren.

I like the idea of these clamps but the video is really misleading you are really only gaining maybe an inch and these clamps with the fittings shown cost about £19 which is a lot more than a G clamp

errr i use super clamps.... for me it not the point of height its that they fit back in a flightcase without removal, which for me used to mean a pair of adjustable spanner at the beginning and end of each gig.

look how close it is ------ oooooo
