making your own interconnects

Finally getting on with my new gig box, this time i am going to make up all the phono interconnects (between cd player & mixer etc) myself so as they are made to the right length and there is no bundles of excess cables lyin about the inside of the case.
where is the best place to buy phono cable and phono plugs, what kind of cost for parts and any recomendations on what to use.

CPC or Rapid online for the connectors.

I'd go for CPC too.

My brother uses them all the time, and has never had any problems.

But save yourself half the time and buy premade leads double or more of the required length, chop 'em in half, and just put new ends on the bare bits.

Also means you don't need to buy cable in 50 or 100m drums :)

Do Maplins not sell these parts anymore? I know when I used to make up cables when I was a sound engineer that's where I used to go and it was pretty cheap. I just buy my cables custom made from a local guitar shop now as the lads in there are really helpful and nothings too much trouble.

Yes maplins also stock them but are normally slightly more expensive than cpc.

I'm going to look in to this CPC as I have a couple of dodgy mic leads that I'm tired of repairing so I'm going to build a new set from scratch. I only ever use oxygen-free copper cables as these tend to give the best sound but can be quite expensive. If CPC can do me a good price on these I'll give them a go.

I noticed my local halfords was selling ofc the other day for £1 per metre as they where clearign stock. May be worth a look was tempted myslef actually as it was pretty good cable.
