Diesel shortage

I just had to drive to three garages before I found one that had any diesel.

I'm aware of the supply problems effecting Scotland & the north of England, but I'm in the South East.

Anyone else had problems or know what's going on?

No but there have been some big ques this week at local garages. I just put it down to thickos panic buying.

Too true, they really think that the Government would allow the whole country to come to a standstill, with no-one able to get to work, and emergency services being put out of action :rolleyes:

Im an assistant manager for a bus company and we had our delivery (30,000 litres) delayed by two days as the supplying depot had run out ( we use total fuel ). All back to normal now tho.

There has been a bit of a shortage round whre I live. There is no diesel and no normal unleaded so I had to fill up with Super Unleaded Fuel.


Now I can tell you this, I am driving so slow because I can see the needle move back to zero if I ever put my foot down. But hey, it does go like a little rocket if you do put your foot down. lol

I've been finding I'm using a lot more fuel than normal, prices have gone up a bit, but I thought maybe after I just got my car serviced the fuel economy would be improved a bit, but it seems not.

Modern servicing isnt like it used to be.

Unless your car has a serious fault its unlikely to make a difference.

Many years ago in the world of older cars, contact points and old fashioned plugs that might have been the case.

Nowadays the only things affecting fuel performance( assuming no mechanical faults) are how fast you drive, traffic density, load carried, roofracks and road conditions e.g high winds--I have a roofbox that goes on the vehicle from time to time so that makes a difference.

As I have posted on here many times--be careful in forward pricing to allow for things like fuel costs rising if you travel any serious distances.

Perhaps in future we will operate like the Airlines--and operate a fuel "surcharge" :rolleyes:

I think my car is running well atm. Drove up to NADJ show and back plus another day of driving for £30. Did over 320 miles on such a small car. Not bad I think.

I'm getting around 10 miles to the pound, I suppose that isn't too bad?

No diesel shortage in blackpool.

I chose to get a diesel car when I changed last year. I thought it would be cheaper with the extra economy, and it was until diesel prices went through the roof. I'm getting approx 50mpg solo, and about 40mpg when towing trailer which is good but I wish I had stayed petral now, it was not worth paying the extra £1000 on the price of the car to go diesel plus the higher servicing costs. I do prefer the way diesel drives though, I like that low down torque!

Diesel receipts for the van? Two. Total £85.
