Took the plunge and bought a Numark D2 today :p It should be here on tuesday! I managed to twist my dads arm to get it. I also told him that this is cheap and needed. As the newone that is comming out will cost £650 or there abouts. :D YEEE HAA Any times helpful :p

I was out with mine again last night and I took the gamble and left the CD's in the van. I didn't even touch them last night and everything ran mega smoothly. I also noticed about the bass too and have turned it down on my mixer as using just the full range speakers had them kicking out some real meatiness....a bit too much.

I also noticed something else about the Denon last night.... You don't even need to tab across when using the keyboard as the unit recognises which side is playing and automatically sends the KB to the opposite side....now that may sound like no big deal to some people but the Cortex didn't do it and not sure about the D2.

Guys....I love this thing...it's the best bit of kit I've ever purchased.

I discovered that speakers work far better when you connect them to an amp.

Ok 'thicko' (only joking), I can't speak for the D2 obviously as I haven't used it but here's what I mean.

Cortex - You can plug in a usb keyboard either in the front or back to make searching for tracks much quicker. To switch from side to side you generally use the tab function on the keyboard. It is easy to forget to tab across to the other side when a track is playing. When you do this, it generally stops the track that's playing because it thinks you are searching for another track. In other words, you MUST always remember to tab across.

Denon - Simply put, the unit recognises which side the keyboard needs to be assigned to on it's own so you have no worries about remembering anything.

& even before the firmware upgrade that allows this, if you had it set to play lock you couldn't stuff it up like that anyway.

Ahhh...I think I get what you mean.

I don't think the D2 has this problem either.

The only part which has two sides is the very top of the screen where the two players are, but apart from that the screen is full width, so you don't need to worry about doing any tabbing.

You just hit search on the keyboard, then key in what you're looking for. When the results come up, you can send a track to the crate or to the player that's not currently playing. It won't let you send a track to the player that's already playing a track.
