What gets chrome trussing nice and shiny? Tried several so-called chrome cleaners, but not great! Any advice appreciated.

Two item for cleaning steel / chrome....

Tip : If your not going to use if for a bit spray WD40 over it while in the garage....then clean off before use......

Are you sure it's chrome and not bright Aluminium. If you try polishing Ali with chrome cleaners it will go black

You're right it is Ali - but it doesn't go black, chrome cleaner just doesn't touch it! (Probably why!)

If it is just plain aluminium, then solvol autosol (white paste in tube) will work - it is a fine abrasive paste - and will polish up plain ally a treat with a bit of elbow grease. If it is anodized aluminium you should *not* use any abrasive cleaner/polish like chrome cleaner/brasso etc as it will degrade the anodized surface. For cleaning use either a solvent based cleaner - alcohol/acetone (nail varnish remover) etc, a chemical cleaner like dishwasher powder that will clean off the crud without damaging the anodized surface or one of the solvent/silicone based products like Mr Sheen. (I have also found that mr sheen etc are the absolute best way to remove traces of sticky label glue without damaging the surface of what they are stuck to!)

I even use it on my trike
