hi guys i just thought that id make a big thread for me so that when i ned a question answering ill post it on here instead of making whole new threads! (iv been known to put up to 4 new threads in a day!) oh and heres my first question, are soundlab vasto´s so bad?

If you dont have the money for more expensive lights and you just want a moonflower for a bit more colour and movement then go for it.

But why not save up around £300 and buy a set of Acme dynamos that way you have a lightshow that works well together.

I agree with Sam. As a Kid I know it's hard to save up large amounts of money but in the long run if this is what you want to do for you job then you want to invest in good, quality equipment.

Hya fella its easy for us adults to say save up as we have the means to, but I guess in your case money is hard to come by.
Below are some not bad lights, yes they are at the cheaper end but have seen them in action and are not bad at all and should do you for a good while.

No. They are fine for what they do, I have two which go out at nearly every gig, and they are now my oldest surviving light effect. ( They've outlasted Martin and abstract units, in fact!). Yes there may be bigger and better ones, but these do exactly what it says on the tin, for not a lot of money.

I don't know how long this will last, but if there are any left, it's not expensive, and sweeps the room horizontallly with circles of light. Two 100w lamps, so reasonable output. (Don't ask why I got it, the reason is long and involved, boring, and now not applicable! ;) :D )

Agree, there are decent lights out there to suit all budgets. My opinion though is to avoid the honeycombs. The are very dazzling to the audience which is the one thing I always am aware of with lights. Let us know what budget you are talking about then wait for the suggestions to come in.

If thats the case then any light can be used on the walls. But if you use a cheap light wityh a lower wattage lamp it may not have enough power to travel any distance.

On a tight budget they can make a very effective centrepiece and will fill the entire venue with light.

The Derby was always more effective in it's 'Double' incarnation, but has a similar presence.

That seems like a very strange question.
There is a huge difference between LED and standard cans.
An LED one can be found for about £35. A standard can be found for about £10... all depending on what you want from it, if your buying new and if you get the lamp supplied.

Still to this day i use 2x Mushroom lighting effects (1 of them DMX:D) . 600w each (yes 2x300w bulbs per unit) very colorful, bright effect and very good value for money. I run these with a full DMX Setup just because i like the effect so much. Also was my first "professional" light i ever bought and is my longest running piece of equipment to this day!

another question! :D what goal post like lighting stand should i get because my maplin one wont be able to handle any more lighting :( make shure its the same standards of you guys so when i grow up i never have to buy a new one , sorry i dont really like booths so hope you can help!:D :D

i have an ultimax winch up stand as do many of the guys on here cost me about 400 quid but well well worth the money , there are cheaper options from prolight again which i used for about 2 and a half years with no problems at all , again that was winch up and around 200 quid when i bought it.

Go for Ultimax. Great Dj stands which are really strong and look professional. You can also addon at a later date ie winches etc.
