release, providing powerful MIDI Hardware Control, world-first Zorphing and
more! This is a free upgrade for all licensed OtsAV DJ, OtsAV Radio and

The NEW OtsAV 1.85.064 release delivers:


* MIDI Hardware Control supporting all MIDI-compatible hardware via flexible
and user-editable OHML (Ots Hardware Mapping Language), including 2-way MIDI

Yeah still abit of a bug really that the LED's on the controller don't work, If you are like me and you use the screen on the controllers to see the duration of the tracks then its abit of a pain but im sure they will fix it all in due time.

Worked fine tonight, although none of the new features apply to me at this stage.

Question....

All our music is in folders. i.e. 70's, 80's, party etc.
How do you import each folder into a specific catergory? It seems you can't :(

No you can't skin OtsAV at present and I don't expect it to have that functionality until 2.0 is released, which on current form will be around 2012...

It never goes wrong and that's what matters to me. :D

Zorphing (Tempo Scratching)

Traditional scratching involves the increase and decrease of playback speed of a song in rapid movements, generally using a turntable or jog wheel. During this process, the pitch of the song also changes.

OtsAV introduces a world-first, where scratching can take place, without adjusting the pitch of a song.

This effect can be used to sample parts of a song at different speeds, without effecting the pitch. Imagine moving the Tempo slider to -100%, then rapidly up to +50%, then jumping back and forth in-between these values, and even going backwards. You are effectively "scratching" using Tempo only.

Using Jog wheels on an external controller, these rapid movements become much easier, and allow for some previously un-heard of effects.

Apart from cheap and nasty cd decks, they all scratch without affecting the pitch. Likewise with the HD2500 and MEP 7000. The D2 sounds a little weird on the scratching, and the Cortex unit I have next to me hasn't been upgraded to scratch, so can't comment on that one.
Software wise I've only used the demo version of VDJ and again, no pitch adjustments while scratching.

I wouldn't say it sounds weird, it just takes about half an hour for playback to resume when you stop scratching!

Fortunately I just let the tracks play out, so this doesn't bother me.

Something I've done once or twice as a joke at "that kind of party" but certainly not a feature I'd use regularly :p

Yes the two decades that it takes to restart after scratch thats the only thing that bugs me with my D2.

All my tracks are in folders as the original cd i.e. Abba - Gold: Queen - Greatest Hits etc.

I then edit them in studio and input different genres, so each tune could say have three, four or sometimes more genres. I put in the release year so then I can find any track by decade and genre. So put in a search '1970s & disco' and I get every track in that decade and genre. It's really flexible.
