I have been busy putting together a DJ competition under the HouseProud (http://www.thisishouseproud.co.uk) brand. The idea is to have a little fun on an otherwise dead Wednesday evening in a lovely local bar in Horsham. We have even managed to secure a few nice prizes to make it worthwhile for the contestants.

The competition is open to any DJ who can mix house music, the heats start on 4th June 2008 at B52's wine bar in Horsham (http://www.b52s.co.uk/), and last about 25 minutes each. Up for grabs for the winner are DJS software from Pioneer (http://www.pioneer.co.uk/uk/products/44/216/2183/DJS/index.html), Allen & Heath Xone XD53 headphones (http://www.xone.co.uk/xd53/), a year's membership of SEDA (http://www.seda.org.uk/member_benefits.php), a 1 hour set at the Barns Green Music festival (http://www.barnsgreenmusicfestival.co.uk/) as part of the HouseProud crew (http://www.thisishouseproud.co.uk), and a 2 hour set at a well known London nightspot.

So what the hell are you waiting for? Let's hear you (http://www.thisishouseproud.co.uk/wordpress/?page_id=41)!

Good luck with the night, let me know how you get on!

I have one running over 4 venues next month and that's been a nightmare to organise, so all the best bud!

B52’s Hosts 1st round of the HouseProud DJ Competition 2008 in Horsham

B52’s Wine Bar and Restaurant in Horsham hosted the first round of the HouseProud DJ Competition 2008 on the evening of Wednesday 4th June 2008. Four very talented DJ’s from London, Poole and Horsham wowed the assembled crowd with their excellent 25 minute sets.

After intense deliberation, the VIP Judges Funky House DJ Paul Velocity (Bar M, Anam, Summit), Holly-Bee (House Rules, Pacha, The IT Girls, Kidology) and Jonathan Dobson (HouseProud, MTG, MOS) declared a very tough decision and 2 DJ’s were put forward to the next round: Rob Chetty and Lucy Stone aka Bam Botang. To finish off this great evening, the amazing Holly-Bee treated the party to a live DJ performance of House Music.

The next round of the competition takes place again at B52’s on Wednesday 18th June 2008 when a fresh set of 4 DJ’s compete for the coveted title of HouseProud resident DJ.

Prizes for this competition include DJ sets at London’s Limelight club, the Barns Green Music Festival, as well as DJ hardware from Allen & Heath and software from Pioneer. The competition is supported by SEDA, the leading DJ Association in the South East, and the RNID’s Don’t Lose the Music Campaign.
