i am seriously considering about reformatting my hard drive and using linux as my o/s as it doesn't have as much garbage as windows and therefore is less resource eating, however before i do this does anyone know what if any dj programs are compatable with linux

If you really wanted to you could program on quite esily in Linux :D What one will you be using? Open Suse, Ubuniun, BSD...

IF you really wanted to push the boat out what about Solaris 10 by Sun microsystems... :D

I don't see the point, windows can be configured to leave out all the things you don't need, particularly if you unhook it from the net. There are tutorials and guides on the net to do this (I think someone might have posted one here actually).

If windows is using too much resources, the chances are your PC isn't powerful enough, or you're running Vista - which is unnecessary for DJing.

ultramixer is the only linux based dj software i know.

guess i need to stick with windows - according to many linux forums DJ software is very buggy etc at the moment and no reliable as yet

I got pretty :Censored: hot with Sinclair Basic:D

DJ software on a Sinclair Spectrum??? Mmmm.. now there's a challenge:D

If you strip all the Windows and Orifice crapola off, XP is very stable - I run OTSDJ on a re-furbed Compaq Evo lappy which cost me 150 quid... files are on external HDD, laptop runs Win 2000...

No Internet, email, antivirus, games etc etc, no problems of any kind in the last 12 months I have had it (and no problems with the ancient Toshiba with XP that I had before that - now retired to backup due to internal battery failure!)
