Hi all,


whilst i was at school i recieved a phone call from google my mum said to ring back later (after 3:30) and nothing. Just out of curisotey who else has had a phone call from them?

Nope. Its probably one of these internet companies misusing google's name to try and sell you advertising. Dont worry I'm sure they'll ring again.

Yes, you'll get it all the time.
And if you don't want to buy it there and then (e.g if you ask to phone back tomorrow) they will mostly be rude and slam the phone down.. as they don't get the comission for the sale..

It's probably UFindUs who claim they can give you good coverage..... and then will ring you at least every three months until you're really rude on the phone.

Then they will ring you back every now and again.....

There was a company called weddingoogle or something similar phoning people a while back - could be them.

There was a company called weddingoogle or something similar phoning people a while back - could be them.

I remember this. I didn't get any phone calls but I did get mailshots. They didn't feature in our advertising strategy so they didn't get any business from me! ;)

What REALLY anoys me is the emails (or phone call starters) would go along the lines of...

"due to your recent interest in XXXXXX" - where XXXXXX would be the name of the directory.
That instantly gets binned even if they look good (or i phone them up and lay into them..), Why? Because I at no point have expressed interest and it is just blatant lieing. So why would I trust them with my money?

must admit aint it funny that these web optimization companies call you to try and get you ranked however they always seem to know your website address lol

Yeh and also they say stuff like "check out how high we list on google when you search "weddingdjs""
(weddingdjs is an example)
OF COURSE that is going to get them to the top of the page - that is THEIR NAME! GRRRR


Like if I search my disco companies name - it will come up top lol

It was refering to them getting bent with there calls! I was putting a humerous tone to it but its backfired!

Got that yesterday. The girl could not even pronounce/read my address "cumberland". i did say as in the sausage. She was English and Northern too. I would have understood if she was indian or something.

She was banging on about the fact i could get fith position on google with certain key words etc. i typed them in and my direct site link was one and two so i kindly turned them down.
