Social Networking Sites - Bebo / Myspace

Does anyone here have bebo sites or Myspace etc? Do you use them for business purposes or personal, perhaps you have two one for each?

I have had a bebo for a while, although never tended to use it much, however i have overhauled it today and started a daily blog, one is in diary mode, ie what have i done etc

And another whch is the soapbox - where i vent my anger at things that do my wick in, again will be updated daily - check it out here (http://www.bebo.com/garryevans1976)

I'm on Myspace, although I lost interest after a while & havent logged in for over a year now.

A number of my quiz people have been suggesting I get set up on Facebook, as that seems to be the one most of them are on. I probably will, but I just haven't got round to it yet.

Something else to consider...isn't this forum also a social networking site?

I have a personal Myspace and a Buisness myspace for advertising. I also have a buisness bebo but I also advertixe my buisness on facebook aswell.

Its free to have an account so why not set one up??? Some people may not like this way as you may attract kids for example, but the way I see it is if you can get your name out there, the better chance you have of getting more work.

I do have a personal myspace but that is it, i don't see advertising your business on myspace, facebook or Bebo is exactly proper advertising is it and lets face it from a customers point of view are you going to log onto one of these sites and search for a mobile disco or dj on there? I dont think so!!

i've seen a few DJs and businesses set up on these sites, and it is a little embrassing! On the other hand, it works well for nightclubs and even pubs, as it's an online extension to the 'club' idea.

I was thinking along the way that after say a 21st birthday etc if you have taken pictures of the crowd etc, you may tell people to check out the pics etc and they may even post thier own pics etc, (may even be a good one of you and your set up etc) it helps raise awareness of the party atmosphere that you are creating, plus good feedback can carry a lot of weight....and may allow other people who were perhaps at the gig to get your details perhaps after a time when they have reflected on your performance and the after effects....

Also any fantastic remarks made about you can possibly be quoted for future business

I think it allows a true reflection of your work to be portrayed

Obviously always get permission to take and post the pics

Yes absolutly, i would never for the life of me use a bebo or myspace instead of a pro website, i mean purely as an add-on, and like you say to link the pages.

I just feel that prospective clients could browse the bebo etc and perhaps read what people do think, someone spoke about testimonials, and satisfaction rateings etc, then this may be a little better because if a client wishes to perhaps contact someone else via bebo to find out how a previous client saw you etc

I have personal accounts on FaceBook, Myspace and Bebo... but I only tend to use FaceBook now - and that is only to keep in touch with friends.
I would never use them to try and advertise.
