DMX Programming

Why does it have to be so time consuming! I've downloaded freestyler and have been playing around with it since last night thinking it would make the task a whole lot easier, all it's done is re-enforce my views that I hate programming.

Anyone in the Scottish region really good at programming DMX?. I'd pay good money to have a bunch of scenes professionally programmed.

can you send programmes as a file when you use something like freestyler or does that not work cause of the dmx address differences?

If they programme was set up with the correct units that Shaun uses etc then it will be fine.

And anyway... he can always change is addressing on his units.

So yes, it should be poss to send files over.

Can you come and sort mine out :) You don't live too far away from me. Im getting the hang of it, but there are certain things i cant work out.

One question, can i operate led up-lighting and moving heads at the same time with the transcention controller? ie: have control over the led lights changing colours separate from the moving head opperation.

Also can i transfer downloaded info in to the unit?

The software seems pretty straight forward, and I've already grasped the concept of programming on my hardware controller. It's the time consuming and repetitive nature of programming that I find too much. It makes my brain hurt..lol.

I could do yes.
Although I have exams until mid June and I am not driving yet.
So if you needed stuff done asap it would be better if you came to me seeing as I wont be driving until around August :cool:

Is this the one similar to the DMX Master?
If so.. then yes and no.
You can programme a bank of scenes so the LED is changing from green to blue on each step and the mover is going mad from side to side.....
BUT you can't say Scene 1 = Blue LED and Scene 3 Red Mover and Scene 4= Side to side movement (e.g combining scenes) at one time as you can pit a PC DMX Software
(did that make any sense at all?)

BASICALLY it has to be all pre-programmed. So if you put it down that the LED is green and the mover is red for that certain scene.. you are stuck with them and can not just change one unit... unless you are operating in manual mode.

Yup.
I spent all of Friday having to programme 2 scanners and 2 led cans to go with the current show... which was hard as I also added a mirror ball.. so i had to set the show up so that the light beams hit the ball every time. (not easy with so many variables involved).
The effect was stunning though. I am very pleased with the light show now.

Well, let me know if and when you do.
I will be happy to help... mainly after June 18th. Which is my last exam.. but it would be good fun to do in my breaks from revision too.
Not everything done in 3d will look good in real life.
But I can set scenes up.. transfer them to you.. and then you can see if you like them and if they actually work when put onto your "real" rig.

yip very boring job shaun, really should get mine reprogramed to make the best of the lights but keep putting it off for the same reasons, good thing about freestyler you can have an infinite amount of scenes so you don't have to delete anything to make a new scene/sequence up.
