hi all
one of my soundlab Vite moonflowers has just decided to go on strike and stop spinning,:bang: it still comes on and flashes in time with the rest of them but won't spin. As cash is a bit of an issue at the mo, i can't really afford anything else so should i..
leave it as it is, looks pretty stupid though
strip it down and see if i can fix it
not use it at all and just run 3 units, which will result in a dark room if that unit was due to be on alone for any length of time
go and sit in a dark room and sulk.

To be honest I think most dj shops will advise not to use lighting like the ones mentioned. They are not really designed for the use dj's give them. I went to get some once and was advised against it. I do use small effects (Geni T-max) but only for the first hour or so when everyone is chatting. If i try to use them all the time they only last for about half a dozen gigs then pack in. I think its with not having a cooling fan.
Try using 3 they may be ok - have a go at home.
I know money is tight- been there, done that, but the higher spec (and priced) lighting does work out better value for money in the long run. It just takes time to build up.
Why not get an electrician to have a look at it if it's out of warranty???

At only £107 for a set of four I would just buy another set!! You will then have 3 spares.....at this price why not get 8? :)

ok so i fed up with it and took it to pieces, something has gone very wrong on the PCB, melted plastic etc, consigned it and its 3 friends to the bin.
my xbox 360 is going on ebay 2morrow :( and its new lights for me. could do without the expense but hey, it was going to happen sooner or later.
ideally i'd like a couple of scanners and something LED based revo 3, impossibled etc as a centrepiece, any ideas??
What lights do you have at the moment. Im sure you wont need to sell your xbox 360?

I'm sorry to hear you have to part with your Xbox but good to see your putting your business first (just think when your rich and famous you'll be glad you sold it). so how much are you trying to get for your Xbox? How much money you got to spend on lights?

In that case you maybe able to get a nice little lightshow.
Have a look at the impossiabLED and the Dynamo scanner which are highly recommended on this forum (never used them myself) but seems to fit what your after rather well i would think.

great, thanks for the advice, i'll start looking into it.
Yes, if you want to fill the dancefloor with light on that budget, i would definately say look at some of the ACME range.
I saw an IMPOSSIBLED and two MIRACLED's running together the other day, and it looked really good.
This just depends on if you want to see some lights in motion (scanner/barrel scan/moving head) or not, but for good lights of this type i would say spend a bit on them and buy quality.
On the budget you have said, you should be able to set up something relatively good, and by using LED lights, you will benefit from never having to replace bulbs.
Your problem with the light may be caused by a faulty stepper motor.
Scott.

Thanks for all your advice, i think i am going to get 2 of the Spectrum FX2's, not sure about the invincibLED as well. i really quite fancy a scanner maybe, a dynamo or dynarock.
i can't make up my mind, i always think scanners look better in pairs or fours, but the budget doesn't stretch to 2.
i am giving myself until Wendesday to decide. that will give me a week to play with them before i have to use them.

hi guys
just thought i'd update you on what i got in the end.
i bought the 2 American DJ Spectrum FX 2's and a Dynatwin which used up pretty much all of my budget, as luck would have it i stumbled into a bit of cash and got got 4 Stairville LED Par 56's as well. ( rented them out to a band on friday and half my money back!!)
i also got a bit giddy and bought vectisvibes Peavey prosub-p of djbids last week as well.
using it all together in anger for the first time on Saturday night, can't wait :D
