I have had 5 requested quotes in the last 2 days.
They are all for when I'm on holiday. Typical.

It isn't like I go away a lot :D But still... it always happens.. I always seem to go away when everyone wants their wedding down here.

Does anyone else get this problem?

Yep, that's why I tend to go away in April :)

I never have that problem.

To avoid it, do what I do...don't have holidays!

(My last one was 8 years ago!)

I'm going away the last 2 weeks in August so have purposely kept them free. Could have probably got at least 3 weddings by now though with the ammount of requests. :(

Same here. I hardly ever go away and when i do i plan it last minute so i know i won't be working.

Hmm i think if i was full time i would certainly take holidays at a different time.. as suggested.
I could have had about 6 weddings last summer when I was in Singapore, Australia and New Zealand.... worth it though :D.. just a bit frustrating

To be honest, when I'm getting up at 10am most mornings, only "working" a couple of hours most nights and have no stress in my life (apart from what I get on this forum!), I don't really NEED a holiday these days!

Apart from that, if I DID want to go away, it would be very hard to get cover for all my quizzes...and the holiday would cost me a fortune (once I'd added in the cost of all the missed work)...so there's very little point.

Having been self-employed for only 4 years, by business is MUCH more important that a holiday...especially if I want to retire in a few years as planned!

:)

Yes,
My brother didn't have a holiday for about 7 years while he was running his first company. He was dedicated to making it a sucess.. and it paid off :) literally..

Jan and I tend to have long weekends as and when we dont have any gigs; so arranged at short notice occasionally; however, I picked up the tip from dj Chris Hill many years ago that after Christmas there is usually not a lot of work about; so we always go abroad for our main holiday in January (prices are cheaper then too!) Despite the variable weather I love this country in the Summer but hate the winter weather.

Good idea, Theo.

I've been toying with the idea of heading down to the south coast for a night or two one weekend when I don't have any work.

I've got this sussed, we have ussually 3 or 4 hols/breaks a year, and do this by checking on the internet for flights on a monday outbound and friday inbound, you can normally get really cheap flights to somewhere nice, then organise the rest of the holiday (Hire car/accom) around the flights.

How about pitching a text in the front room. Leave the door open facing towards the tv, have a mini fridge and laptop in the tent. Worth a shot.

lol

Been on holiday from the part time day job this week and Jan took the week off too. We have decorated the hall, the kitchen and the outside of the bungalow!
