Light boxes are back?

For an old Brontosaurus like me, this looks fab. I just love the movement combined with LED moonflower? effect. Hope they (or something similar) hit these shores soon.

The Miracled and Impossibled have more interesting patterns IMO.

Very true, but I like the fact that they 'chase' along a line of 4 separate openings. Gives more of a feeling of movement and vibrancy and the spread looks fairly tight, so ideal for training onto a dancefloor (with impossibLEDs doing walls, ceilings whatever).

The Equinox Carbon has to be in the running too (far more exciting than my impossibLEDs).

There's no stopping LED lighting technology now, although keeping up with it could cost a small fortune.

Yep, I've seen that, but am undecided. Very clever, but I'm not sure if it would 'fit in' with what I use currently.

I think they need to start bringing out led lighting with more colours now. It must only be round the corner, surely?

I think they need to start bringing out led lighting with more colours now. It must only be round the corner, surely?

I'd like to see tighter beams (as standard) from LED lighting FX and less dots too (there must be a way to make the things throw a concentrated beam, a la projector). Apparently LEDs with gobos are already being made (haven't seen any personally), so maybe all the projector FX using bulbs will be obsolete soon?

Now this lighting effect does nothing for me personally, if you have bought Impossileds or Marveleds and then went and bougt this it would be abit of a step back.

Really don't know how you can justify that remark.

Have to say I've had my impossibLEDs for 6 months now...and I'm bored with them already. The way I see it, this one box is like having 4 small LED moonflowers that (are already like being DMX'd to) act as one unit, or an impossibLED, BUT in a long thin case instead of a square one. Saves on space, cables etc (against 4 separate moonflowers) and did you see the price? The equivalent of £65.00 or thereabouts...amazing features for that money!


Look at an impossibLED head on and you just see a mass of swirling colours, with these you actually get to see individual colours chasing along a chain, which gives the impression of more movement and more of a system being employed (which is obviously NOT true, but eyes can be deceived).

It's each to their own, i just dont think customers would be bored of the ImpossibLED as they are rather fascinating to watch, and lets face it how many people actually pay alot of attention to the stand where the lights are rigged?

i have seen these online. LED Scanners. works in the same way as all other scanners but instead of a bulb there is a group of bright white LED's shining through coloured Gobo's. will try to find a link later.

Coz you see them every gig you do - but they are new to most of your audience. Who are you performing for? Yourself or the audience? This is why so many dj's are really hobbyists - they just keep on buying more and more gear to play with.

Very true Theo. Records were always my 'hobby'.

I'm bored with my impossibLEDs, but that doesn't mean I won't be using them for a good few years,or that I don't think they are very good lighting FX. I have very few lights at present, so a few tasty additions would be welcomed.

The only complaint about any of my lights that I've received so far, was about my LED chase light boxes. Apparently, with the flashing, angled as they were and at the height they were, they were giving someone a headache. No-one's said they look rubbish......yet!

Until they get a hand on perfecting LED lighting it will continue to look slightly retro this may take a year or two but I can see some major changes coming with scanners being improved no end as for light boxes they never died just were awaiting there rebirth LOL
