Itunes Help Needed!!!

Need help with Itunes.

I have all my music at home stored on a portable hard drive but upgraded it yesterday as i was growing out of my original one.

I use Itunes to play the tracks at home and have created many play lists. so the problem... how can i copy all of the tracks and play lists to my new hard drive and still be able to play them from my existing play list???

Is this possible? It will take me days to recreate my play lists again!

I originally thought copy the data on my HD to my new one and keep all the files in their original folders but then remove the old HD and rename the HD to the same name as the old HD so that the original file path will be the same.
But would this actually work? I am starting to have my doubts as the drive ID will be different.

That method sounds ok to me, as long your not talking about renaming the internal drive (with windows installed on). Theres also an "Export Library" option on the File menu which exports to a .xml file. You could do that, and then open the file in notepad and run a find/replace on "D:\" to "E:\" to change the path to a new drive. Then import the library file.

Both drives are external. I'm not brave enough to do it on my internal drive as it would mean bye, bye windows:).

This is what I'm currently trying but as the destination has to be changed for every track of my 2300 odd tracks it could take a while. And has already crashed my PC twice:bang:

Assuming you're running Windows, yes you can:)
Find Disk Mamagement, on XP, right click MyComputer and select Manage, you find disk management in there, then you can change drive letters manually:)

The system mentioned above worked in the end after crashing my PC twice and i had to move to a more powerful computer. All is now working on my new hard drive and even the play lists have been transferred across.

So I'm a happy man:)
