When I open the itunes music library on my computer, if I right click a song, then click get info and then options, it comes up with a tick box and a start time, which is pre-filled with 0.00 for the beginning of the track.

If I tick the box and change the start time (to cut off a long quiet intro for example), will this only apply when I play back the song on my computer? or will the start point STILL be the same if I sync my ipod & then play it back through my D2?

If it WON'T hold it for when I play back on my ipod through the D2, is there a way to set my own permanent cue points for use with my ipod & the D2?

Might depend a bit on what Ipod you have as the software differs.

But I am pretty sure that the start / stop times are retained on my Ipod Touch. Although I never play back from the Ipod.. always play through a laptop for disco use.... the Ipod is for personal and emergency backup :o

My ipod is the 80gb classic, which I think is the latest model.

Maybe I'll just have to wait until I get the D2 back from my brother & then try it for myself to find out...

...unless anyone else here knows?

Why don't you just try listening to the ipod to see if it does it? :confused: :confused:

Whatever the ipod does with headphones in.. is what it will output into somethng else....

I'm not technically-minded enough to be able to answer that one, but when I'm using it with the D2 I'm not actually using it as an ipod, but only as a hard drive.

But essentually you are taking the music from the Ipod and playing it?

If the D2 is anything like the Denon you can use it to save cue points on the MP3.

If the cue points work on your Ipod then when you use your D2 the cue points should have saved.

I have neither an IPod or a D2 but I can see what Rob is saying here. When played through the IPod, it will load as per the settings on the IPod's inbuilt MP3 decoder which, I assume, would read the file info and, probably, pick up on the cue-point info. If the D2 uses a different MP3 decoder (which is likely) it may not pick up on the cue-point info and ignore it.

I think this is what Rob is meaning but, unfortunately, it's I question I can't answer at the moment.

If it's simply a case of writing to the MP3 file information, Sam, then it is possible. It wouldn't be the D2 writing to it anyway, it would be the MP3 software in the D2 that does that and if it works using standard MP3 info then it wouldn't be too hard to do.

Again, I'm no IPod/D2 expert but I do know a thing or two about MP3 and the ways files are created and handled.

Yes...you are spot on with what I was meaning to say, although maybe I could have worded it a bit better.
