This is a difficult one for me to answer (and I'm not just being awkward! :D)

It depends where I am, the type of gig, and who I'm working for. I also always have the CD trays there if I'm playing digital... :confused: :)

I suppose on the balance of things I'll have to go for CDs.

We want to ascertain whether people use CDs, laptop or Media player. What you use to control it doesn't make a difference in this context.

I don't think this is difficult - what do you use the most?Well, I reckon a lot of DJs like myself refuse to rely on a digital playout system alone, for now anyway, so then you're using a dual source playout system.

Sorry, you do need to touch the laptop for searching and typing in bands etc It's a completely different system.

I love the way all of a sudden that "Denon" means the fangled hard-drive thingy! I use Denon as well - they have been making CD players for years!! So "Denon" to me, means a CD player

I think it will definately be a higher percentage, but not significantly.

There are plenty of DJs who don't go on forums who keep abreast of advances in technology. I reckon you'd be surprised.

As it happens I worked with a guy Saturday who is a fulltime DJ and AV Hire Company--he uses CDs STILL because he gets more fun out of his job:D

Apparently he works in various clubs and bars in London etc. certainly not a Cowboy.

Must admit though--he was caught out because he couldnt find his fave CD to play--because he had mislaid it:D :D :D

There are also some dodgy operators who have been around for years, and will be around for years, who obviously have their CD collection already there.

Surely it's MUCH easier to use that?I don't think even dodgy cowboy operators would stoop to using a portable MP3 player for DJing, Rob! The play controls are too small and fiddly, and surely you'd need two? That said, I imagine there are some DJs who do just that, but I've yet to see one, even in backstreet pubs.
