Bit of a tricky one this for many reasons. All part of the digital rights media problem and also the digital DJ problem.
According to the rules laid down by itunes it is not legal. However as far as I know this has yet to be challanged in court.

I would have thought so.
As you are paying for the song.. like you do with a CD....
so it would only be a problem if the venue was charging for entry - i.e non private.

Yes.

The venues licence will normally cover you for performance.

That is what I do.
I tend to just buy the NOW albums now.. and others that I think will be useful.
Then download all the other stuff that I need.:o

Hi Charlie. You could use any LEGAL download site and it should be fine as long as the venue has the necessary licences as Darren said

I use 7Digital.com as well as iTunes. I prefer 7Digital cos it allows you to pay by text message which is ideal when my pre-paid credit card is out of credit and I need a track in a hurry. Also, there's some good free downloads on 7Digital and free is good!

I can't be doing with them.

The problem is now the ProDud license has come in it looks like I'm heading back to CD, but I've got a number of tracks i have downloaded from Itunes. So now i now i can legally burn those tracks to CD and use them for DJing thats alot off my mind but how do you show that you've purchased these tracks not just downloaded them like many other people have done?

As soon as someone sees a CD-R they automatically jump to the conclusion that its been illegally downloaded.

Also sub note how long does it take Itunes to send your receipt? I bought a few tracks last night and still haven't received the receipt that proves I've purchased the tracks!!!:eek:

Log in to your Itunes account, click on purchase history and all the tracks you have purchased should be listed. Just print off the list.
