Foxheyes Garage in Exeter, Devon is charging £1.99!!!!!!! a litre for both unleaded and diesel.

Enough is enough, at this rate the mobile disco market are going to be priced out of business.

Has anyone here yet lost gigs due to the "credit crunch"? I mean food, fuel, energy etc are all up by at least 16%, and in case of fuel nearly 40%

So how is it affecting everyone here?

What can we do about it?

It is tougher, but you get on with it I suppose. You just have to be smarter with what you do with your food, money, how you drive your car etc

Fill up in the morning or at night when the petrol or diesel is cooler and you will get more for your money, also fill slowly rather than quickly as a fast gushing delivery encourages vapourization and the emptier your tank gets the more you will lose in vapour; so refill when half full.

Furthest venue from my house that I cover is 18 miles. More typically they are 4-6 miles away (Sandown/Shanklin or Newport). My fuel bill last year was just over £85 :o

What can we do about it?

Charge more and break down the cost of travelling as a separate item so the clients can relate to it. ( i.e. everyones paying a lot more for fuel)

I have been encoraging people for a long time on here NOT to discount for advanced bookings and to allow for future price increases--I get the impression no one thought much of it.

Seriously though on the flipside our ferry operators have implemented fuel surcharges now, and courier costs have increased. There's still a bit too much competition between the supermarkets here for them to increase the prices over mainland levels but given half the chance...

I paid 140p per litre on Monday (last day of the tanker driver's strike) and today no strike and the same garage is charging 131.9p.

how much does petrol for the average gig cost- cant be more than £5-10 for most people apart from those in the sticks?

if it gets more then surely you just include it in the quote?

Funny thing is the folks back home in NZ are appalled at petrol now being $2.00/Litre but that's about 77p! And even that's 75% government taxes!

We ain't seen nothing yet, on the petrol price front, IMO. Those warnings a few months ago of petrol at 150p per litre within a year or so, look way under what it could end being.

Just for the record the £1.99 petrol in Exeter. the manager of the petrol station said that he will put the prices back to normal after the strike is over and supply is back to normal. he said he was stopping people from panic buying by increasing the price. More like making money from the crisis!!!:mad:

Predictions say that the price of fuel will rise continuously for the next 4 years!!! this means we could be looking at prices around 2.50 per a litre in the next few years.

Think the time to convert to gas is about now. you can convert a standard unleaded car to gas for around £1000 now. that's the cheapest its ever been. am seriously thinking about it.
