So, I'm with a group of friends, 3 boys and 4 girls.

We had just come out of our favourite coffee shop, and walk down the road to discover a bin is smoking. Clearly somebody had put a lit cigarette in there, so instead of ignoring it I stopped and started to try and put it out, yes I put my hand in the bin! No joy so I go to the Tesco Express and ask them if they can help, "nothing to do with us." Go back out and at this point it’s quite bad, so I can’t leave it. We decide to try and pull the bin liner out, and half of my friends think I'm mad and step aside. Next thing I know this old guy who looks half crazy came up to us. I thought he was asking for money but the next thing I know he barges into Tesco and asks to borrow their phone to report me!!

They refuse so he runs along to McDonalds, where we don’t see him for around 5 minutes. In the end Tesco came out with a bucket of water and put the fire out, so problem is solved and off we go to our buses.

About 2 minutes of walking slowly down the road, this fire engine comes tearing round the corner, blue lights and siren. We all look at each other, and think it can't be for the bin....but it is!!!

We walk back to the bin and all six men jump out and get the hose pipe. I couldn't believe it, we walk up to the firemen and explain what has happened...Next thing we know the man is back, and tells the fire-fighters that we have set the bin on fire!!! Next a woman standing at a bus stop told them that we where messing around with the bins, and started it on purpose!!! I couldn't believe it, we had been trying to do good deed, but all we get is blame!!

The firemen believe us and tell us to be on our way.

Off we go again, to our bus stop, and then the next thing two police cars come tarring round the corner, lights and siren. WE COULD NOT BELIEVE IT!! Out they jump, looking round everywhere, and they ignore us at the start (hate to say it, but I think it's because we were in High school uniforms, which is wrong, but that's what I think happened) next the woman and man come back and point at us and tell the police...

They drive up to us and tell us to get into the car....and ask us questions about what has happened, I told them to look at the CCTV etc but in the end they believed us, in a way. They took all our details, and let us be on our way....

It did look suspicious, I admit but when you have done nothing wrong....it's crazy..

Walking back to our bus stop, two community support offices come running up and tell us to STOP:bang: :bang: :bang: :bang:  :bang:  :bang:

I could not believe it, we explain what had happened and after 1 hour and 20 minutes we are allowed to go home!!!

Why blooming bother!!

Charlie..
You will find this will happen a lot as a youngster... it is indeed a shame for those of us who mean well.. but you have to remember there are a lot of youths out there who just cause trouble!!

And I don't think you had to stop for the community support officers... they have no powers and could have only done a citizens arrest :)
They used to be allowed to look up personal details too!!! And my sisters bf (whos a detective in the Met anto-terrosim) unit caught one of them looking up details about a neighbour.. and since then they have had that privelage taken away :)

And it must of cost the council a BOMB for a fire-engine, two police cars and two community support people

Crazy....and they didn't stop us first because we were in what they would call "a respectable uniform"....maybe if we where standing there in track suits we would have been the first people they had stoped..ahh well

This is what people are like, they just presume you have done something bad and point the finger instead of getting the story right first.
In an ideal world, look at the situation, deal with the situation then move on.
Obviously not lol.
