American Audio Mixers

Evening/Morning Guys and Girls of the entertainment world.

Ordered myself a new mixer for quiz nights and any other jobs,

Has anybody had any experience with these mixers? They have a fair few good reviews on the internet and for £125 i think it's a bargain.

Anyway let me know your views, I know this mixer won't touch a Denon but just wanting to know reviews and thoughts about it.

Mine cost £40 off Ebay... luvly piece of kit, ideal for me (3 channels - CD decks + laptop) --- however the meters take some getting used to when you are used to the individual LED's like everyone else uses.

Mic 2 input is awkward to get to when mounted in a flight case.

You mention the Denon......i've been using mine for a few weeks now...and i was concerned that the light's on the master side never lit up......

...but it suppose to do that.....greatest bit of kit i've ever bought.

....so back to the question.....I don't know what it's like but it looks like a toy....IMO...:)

Would it not be a better idea to ask for opinions and advice before making the purchase:p :run:
It looks good to me. Why spend an absolute fortune on something you don't need. For years I used a cheap second hand mixer with no complaints. The only drawback was that the back had to come of the flight cae if we wanted to use a second mic. (hardly ever).

You're right. I'd better dump it, quick - the client, hearing clear sound and smooth mixing all night, will most likely come up to me at the end and say 'I'm sorry but we won't be paying you tonight as your mixer looks a bit Fisher Price.'

Better get shut of me OTSDJ lappie too, and get an HD2500, 'cos Denon is of course the best and never....

It was only an opinion.....but the colours on the faders, just make it look tacky...IMO....

OK Fisher Price might have been a tad strong....so...if i have offened anyone, I apologise.

But if it does the job and rocks your boat - Hey ho.......:)

IMHO the American Audio gear I've seen is no better or worse than most of the other budget gear on the market today.

Someone mentioned Denon mixers - it is worth being mindful that whilst Denon 19" twin CD players have been industry standard since the early 90s, manufacturing mixers was something Denon began much later on, and Denon's position in the "mixer league" (for want of a better description) is certainly not up there where they stand with 19" CD machines. Don't get me wrong, Denon make OK mid-range mixers, which do compliment a matching CD player in terms of functionality compatability (effects, auto start crossfader, etc).

Well as I seem to still be able to post... my 2422 does everything I want from it, sounds great. Black metal with chrome controls (like my Harley!), used and recommended.

Just above it in the flight case is my backup - my old Gemini PS 727, which looks dated by comparison (which it is).

Well the American Audio Q-Spand Pro arrived this morning and i was eager to test it out, got it out for the box and fitted it in the rack and connected all the wires like you do, The faders are really smooth about the same as a Denon in my opinion, Sound quality is Very good for a budget mixer, the only downside is because it is american the AC cable is only 2 pin but that was easily solved after a trip to Maplins.

All around this is a good budget mixer and i would reccomend it to anyone, Alot better than a Behringer or Gemini Budget mixer.
