Yep can't go wrong with good old VDJ 5.1 - does exactly what it says on the website :D
It will allow you to mix video, audio and karaoke as well as throw in visuals, moving text, slide shows and a live camera feed!
Personally i wouldn't go with cue or PCDJ VJ just because they are re branded versions of VDJ - PCDJ VJ is even a stripped down version too! So personally i'd stick with the original software which is VDJ rather than the re branded versions.

Sorry if this sound silly - but i had trial versions of PCDJ VJ & Virtual DJ to see which i preffered (currently use deejaysystem) and I feel a bit silly if they are the same as I couldnt get on with PCDJ but found Virtual DJ to be OK.
But on the whole bith more complicated than what i needed

I was thinking of writing my own DJ software.
Nothing heavy, just something that compiled, played and edited playlists.
I use VDJ 4.3
Tried the new 5 version. Didnt like the way it automixed onto one desk rather than across the 2, so rolled it back to the older one.

What didn't you like about it?
Surely if you are using automix it must be for background music so it doesn't matter anyway?
Hi
yes and no.
When doing karaoke for instance - I find with 18 things to do at once ( mainly please see the rules regarding bad language punters and mics and stuff) that I set up the KJ track on the opposite deck - check it to make sure its ok and cue it up so its at the start ( some KJ trax have big lead ins) then just click on automix when they are ready.
Couldnt do that on V5 I found.
Just personal preference I suppose.
And being new - and still learning - its what you get used to! Maybe at a later date when I am more proficient I will have another go to see if the benefits outweigh the negatives.
bad language - me - with my reputation! :zip:
sorry didnt know I did DOH!
anyhow - just to be clear I am not wrong ( it does happen you know!) when I tried out VDJ 5.whatever version - the automix button didnt work the same as on my 4.3.
On v5.... It turned on the permanent automix function, as oppose to mine which just has the effect of starting the opposite ' turntable' and and moving the volume slider across. I use this button a fair amount I would guess, hands full, drunk person on stage etc etc. Karaoke Track all cued up and just prss the button. Same when they come off. Having paused the non karaoke track that was playing once they were singing, when they come off I just press the button again, and it switches back. I found it didnt do this on V5 even tho i tried some other skins ( I use another skin on 4.3)
Is this right?
