What do you like,use and think looks better - triangle truss, ladder truss, double bar, single bar or tripod?

I use a triangle truss.

looks strong , and is :D , it helps to hide the wiring loom on the back bar, thus leaving the top and front bar to hang lights etc.
hang the impossibled on the top bar and the scanners, they rest on the front bar to gain a little support.
more bulky than the other systems, but you cant have everything.

I use powerlite because I like a tidy cable experience... and I like swapping and changing my lighting to suit the occasion/venue and that means maximum flexibility but without lugging and hanging masses of cable everywhere. All my power, DMX and jack leads are now 50cm apart from the feeds that run up the vertical.

I use ladder type truss but think Tri-lite is much better as I believe it has a more professional look & is more robust.....I used to use Tri-lite and will be getting some more just as soon as funds allow.

One downside to Tri-lite is it's not as transportable as ladder type trussing, I will have to transport it on a roofrack when I eventualy get some more which is giving me headaches thinking about how to keep it dry when it's pre-wired! :( I think this is why I haven't got my Credit Card out just yet! :D

I use quad for big shows, and a 'gig rig' which consists of ladder for small shows. I think for the small shows, the ladder looks just right.

I use tripods & t bars.

This means the lights are on the left & right of me rather than above my head, so it's more flexible when you have a low ceiling.

Also, unlike the goalpost type set ups, they are quicker to put up & their placement is not governed by the width of the bar.

On the subject of single & double bars, it might just be my eyes, but whenever a photo of one appears in the gallery, they always seem to be bent in the middle.

I'm not sure that is true Rob. They both have 2 x tripods or stands, your will have 2 separate bars to put on and someone with a truss will have one bar...

My comment was based on the experience of a friend of mine, Darren.

He used tripods like me, but then bought a goalpost thingy (that's a technical word!) from Terralec.

Although he was happy with it, he told me it took longer to put together, as I seem to remember the trussing part consisted of more than one section which required bolting together or something.

I have a tripod stand which I pop some light lights onto.
The rest of the lights (some of which are heavy) are on the ground.
Rope lights draped along the front of the disco.
I have a UV cannon on the ground too.

I like triangle trussing, as it's stronger than ladder, and enables you to hide the wires easily.

I use ladder trussing, as it's strong enough for the amount of lights i use and can be used in either 1.5m width or 3m width (flexable).

I think that triangle truss looks better because it enables you to hang lights off 3 points, and that can look really effective. However, as mentioned by other people, i would imagine would be a pain to transport!

Ok for the small shows i use The Ultimax Winch stand with the double bar or the Giraffe Deckstand with overhead 5ft bar as in some venues i work in i find it hard to get the ultimax winch stand in as i cant get the winch pods into the sides without breaking half the ceiling.

bigger shows i use 2 Power drive winch stands and either triangular or 2D truss depending on the weight that i am going to be putting up there.

why would it be full of scrap metal, you choose the right size for the right job, fill the bad boy with lighting, does the bride and groom really give a monkeys what lighting stand you have ??

So long as the lighting is hung safely and is not going anywhere and the lighting stand doesn't look like it has been rescued from a building site then its all good,

Like i said in my earlier post i only use trussing for the heavier effects that i have access to like MX10's & MAC250's, I can't see the need of turning up to venue with aload of trussing then hanging pinspots off it, looks well out of place then.

Most of my venues I struggle to get my Ultimax double bar up. let alone tri-truss!

It was more the cabling I was thinking about and the fact that it's easier to hide.
