80gb Denon HD2500??

As you do I was flicking around ebay and found this

2 questions.

1. I didn't think you could get an 80gb internel one.


2. Surely this will invalidate the warranty?


And let's not even mention "I can leave the songs on there if you wish or I can take them all back off so you can start afresh" :eek:

The HD2500 comes as standard with 40Gb HDD. I suppose if you did change it to a bigger drive and something went wrong, you could put the original drive back in........not that I would suggest such a thing. :sj:

The warranty would be invalidated, and I believe you would have to break a seal to replace the hard drive (don't quote me on that one!) :)

There's no seal, so you "can" put a larger drive in. The largest a HD 2500 will take is a 120Gb.
Obviously Denon doesn't advise on this upgrade, but I know a fair few people running one with a 120Gb drive in.

I don't I'm afraid.

I know the one in the Denon is a Fujisu Seimens 40gb, so you need to find a Fujisu Seimens 120gb version (at a gig using wireless, so not got time to have a scout round the net, sorry).

I was on with a band, so had a little bit of free time for lurking on the forum :D

For anyone interested in upgrading there hd2500 to 120gb this is the drive I used with no problems

There is no seal on the hd compartment, 2 screws release it, slide it out, can't remember if there is 2 or 4 screws securing the drive to the tray, undo these and swap drives, put back together in reverse order, turn on unit, go to utility menu and format drive, job done.

This will probs invalidate your warranty, don't know if denon can tell if you swap back to the 40gb drive if there is a problem, if you don't want to risk it just wait till the warranty runs out:)
