Hi, all

Im just in the process of changing my lighting rig from traditional style lamps (par cans / double derbys / flasher units etc) to LED DMX style effects.

Im going to need a controller to control the rig (in time this will include REVOs, possibly a Impossibled, spots and some colour changing par cans).

As i will also be using this rig with my band, I was just wondering if anyone has had any experience of using foot controllers? And if so which are worth buying?

The typical effects i will need are blackout / strobe / colour flood etc - Im not sure exactly what you can do, as im new to DMX - can you select which lights come on and go off with the flick/kick of a switch? can you also control smoke machine/fazer with these?

Also how do you connect your rig to the foot controller and roughly what costs are involved?

any comments welcome

My first ever lighting effect was a Dynachord 4 spot bank with an electric changer plus manual override operated by a foot controller. Circa 1967 oy was the bees knees then!:D

yes of course dmx controllers will do light floods, controll strobes and smoke machines, i know the bigger ones do it all and are the bee knees but am unsure about the foot ones, their also quite a bugger to programme, but if you have afew 100quid spare and what to explore all the aveunes of professional lighting, then heres your chance, i would check this out http://www.mobilediscodirectory.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=3509
