Denon HD2500 v1200 firmware

I take it that means you've downgraded too after the dramas with 1300?

I wasn't aware you can downgrade. I have upgraded to v1300 and have had trouble but only with the new hotlist feature. Everything else appears fine.

You just do it in the same way as a normal upgrade upload.

I had problems with the hotlist and it scrolling up and down on it's own :eek:

went back to 1200 and it's fine now

Yep, these nothing I can do about it. I have done everything according to the denon forum and I'm still having problem. I will re check everything but when i have a few days free.

Well if it comes to the worse then I will use cd's. The good thing about us that we both use the HD2500 with the DN4500 cd draws. ;) :D

To be honest they are both in there different classes but i would say cds are more stable than any digital device unless the cd gets scratched and it comes up as an error or jumps but if looked after correctly they are untouchable when inserted in the right cd player. :beer1: :beer1:

In a word, no.

CDs jump...unlike music on a hard drive.

Also, I find a CD player lasts me for a couple of years before packing up.

I might be wrong, but I'm assuming a hard drive & media controller (D2) will last longer than that.

If your cd is packing up after 2 years then it isn't exactly industry standard, The nightclubs i have worked in have Denon cd players what have been in there for 5+ years, the one at LA bowl where i used to dj a few years ago had been in there for 10 years and was still going strong. So i have to disagree.

As far as I know it is. I've always used standard anti-shock dual players from the likes of KAM, Numark etc.


The nightclubs i have worked in have Denon cd players what have been in there for 5+ years, the one at LA bowl where i used to dj a few years ago had been in there for 10 years and was still going strong.

I once had a Denon, and I accept they do last longer. I think I got about 3 years out of mine.

You are welcome to, but I'm just stating the facts.

The bottom line is that the moving parts in a CD player are more likely to go wrong than the moving parts in a hard drive.

Also, a hard drive can be re-booted, but once a CD player has packed up, that's it (at least until you can get it to the repairers!).

I carry a back up hard drive. Anyway give it another 6 -12 months and USB pen's will be large enough to get all my music on then there will be no moving parts involved and it will be more stable than CD.

I used to use Denon CD players and they do last longer than some of the competition but they also cost more. The main big problem with Denon is their after sales service It is C**P. Thats why I went on to using Numark players.
To be honest I have stopped carrying CD's now but have been thinking about what would happen if the Denon went down on me. I have been thinking about getting 2 MP3 players and putting a seletion of music on them in case of emergency so I can plug them into my mixer if it did go down.

Just get a Cortex HDC 1000 (£ 200) as a back up plus another Hard Drive which will affect your new Pro Dub Licence price possibly :bang: :bang: :bang:

It works with Virtual DJ (and all it's copies) as well doesn't it? The HC4500 does.. so I assume they work in a similar way.

Along with the van, I also use trolleys, so there is as few trips back and forward as possible (you can fit quite a few cases on a trolley). Additionally, Ive also bought a ramp into the back of the van* so I can wheel the trolleys straight in without having to take things off. Work smarter, not harder. :D
