Abstract or Acme

My Question - stick with my abstract show as below and substitute 2 gladiators for 2 of the futurescans or change to similar but but more update effect lighting (possibly acme)?
I currently use (Function type, venue size permitting) abstract futurescan 1ce 250w x4 2 twister 4 250w which are controlled via club 32 controller(in addition to abstract cyclone and 2 i color 4's and an impossibled).I wish to add a 2 barrell effects to replace 2 of the futurescan possibly with the galdiator if I can pick 2 up.
The abstract lighting I have although in good condition is now getting long in the tooth and don't seem as bright as newer 250w lighting I have seen.

Any thoughts comments or suggestions positive or negative appriciated.

I'd hang on to them David. The only person likely to notice they are,as you say, not that much of a new design, is you.

The public will see a great modern looking light show and to be fair you may be surprised just how valuable & desirable your "old" future scans are, So I wouldn't put them out to pasture just yet.

I say this as I recently sold a set of four (only 3 working) with controller for £350 which is more than some new effects - this surely proves they are desirable to other DJ's

So in my opinion keep them - unless what your really saying is your bored with them and like lots of us, get a kick out of buying new gear - just for the sake of buying new gear. In which case go ahead and warm up the plastic!


Ps from experience the gladiators dont work that well when connected to the club32 controller.

I had head 1,3&5 as future scan and head 2&4 gladiator, the result - well put it this way the gladiators work better on their own controller.

PPs before owning the futerscan & gladiator combo I owned Acme Leo & (forget the name of the barrel) combo & I infact found the abstract's to be brighter and better.

Tip - if you think your scans seem a little dim concider changing the lamps - I changed to Phillips 250w lamps and the difference was astonishing (although so was the difference in price from £5 each to £14)

Hi Richard not bored just wanted to add a barrel type effect such a gladitor to fill the floor abit more on the younger functions I do and 4 scans can be a bit much on some older functions.The 4 scans look great but don't light the floor as much as barrel would.I was looking at adding 2 acme dynaroll or the twin version, but like the idea of everthing working together.

Well when hooked to the Club 32 as one of the heads in the program I found the gladiators at times to be a little lazy - Not moving much at all sometimes.

Now, I believe the club 64 controller lets you tell the controller what units you have connected to it and its clever enough to change the program on thoes channels accordingly to combat this problem.

I think the dynoroll might be nice as the only small problem with the Gladiators is they use the exact same gobo wheel and sometimes it gets lost in the scheme of things

Has the possibility of LED barrels been considered? It would seem current, and give a variation of paterns. Just a thought.
