One of my residencies has just told me that I will not be getting a gig I was looking forward to, as the Band insist on being a Disco as well! :bang: :bang: :bang:
I'm not a happy bunny.
Do you have some kind of contract with them???
I just hope that this band bodge it right up. They are there to play musical instruments, not think they are pete tong. Sorry to here. :(

It's down to the wishes of the customer Tom, still shouldn't be allowed though! :D

There is a prestigious venue near me (it was mentioned on here just last week) which is very expensive to hire. They have a contract with one disco company and no other discos are allowed to play there whether the customer wants it or not. I think that I posted that my brother wanted his (next!) wedding there and it was going to cost around £10,000 for the hire of the venue (1 room) and food and drink (although I've since found out he was quoted over £13,000) and his lass really wanted to go for it but the stumbling block was that, if they wanted a disco, they had to use their resident one.
Maybe you should seek to include this condition in your residency contract, Peter!

Sorry to hear this Peter, its always the money isnt it:eek:
However having said that ill bet the Band charge extra--even though they dont admit it of course.
Perhaps a good opportunity to stir it up by asking this question to your residency==
I hope you checked the Band have one of these new Pro Dub Licences?
:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
(If they are not CDs only)

Not actually sure it's the money totally, apparently the Band stipulate this term. Since the customer wants this band, and the venue wants this customer, then it's a done deal.:(
However, as you suggest, if I'm free that night, I might innocently drop by, and have a little friendly chat with the Band, and if they are using a Digital playout.............................;) ;) :D :D :D
