I have a budget.

OK....I've got a bit of cash to spend........:D ...for some active speakers.

Would like to know what would be your choice of speakers...could i ask you please don't turn this into a which speaker is better than this one thread.

I want to try / look at as many as possible....but only active please.
Budget is £1500 (give or take £100) and for that i would like -

2 full cabs and a bass bin.

The sound need's to be rich and the bass i would prefer - the only way to describe it would be warm and flowing....not get up and smack you in the mouth.....if that makes sense.....:confused: :D - the cabs need to work on there own and be good enough to make an impact...but if the bass bin was added for extra sound they would work together...if you get me!

So any ideas on make and model would be helpful.....oh and please.....no Class-D's......:p :D

Tone you already know about Mackie and RCF as options and im very happy with my carlsbro gamma 15 bass bins at 600 quid a pair ,

but the other company I looked at and heard which impressed me in nottingham was these guys

Mackie as company are going through hard times, so if things do happen to go wrong with new purchases, you'll have trouble getting them sorted under warranty.

If I were buying my kit again I would go for two Mackie SRM 450's and a DB Sub 15.
We use the Mackies in my band and the sound is awsome. I think 12"s work better for tops. I would have bought the DB sub if my budget allowed as all the reviews were good and then Vectis confirmed it.

As for subs, i've been recommended the DB SUB 15 by Tom (KMA), so i'm going to try and find a shop that has one and go try it out :)

I use 2x Mackie SRM450 and 2x DB Sub 15. I can highly recomend the combination. The sub 15 is 800W so even one cab can hold it's own in a reasonable sized room. I would certainly describe the bas as warm and flowing. Had I known how good the DB subs were before I bought my Mackies I would have had a test drive of DB Tech tops, after all they are part of RCF.

Well. The LED dont work for no one but I still think it was the bass that has caused a loose connection somewhere. I will be contacting Mackie to see if they can sort this out.

I did loose power but this has sorted itself out. Just needed a good blast.


Apart from that they really do kick some behind. :D

How do you mean rotate :confused: Just on the top hat fitting?

Soundwise, the HK range - Powerworks Soundhouse One sounds better, out of the little systems, (LD Systems, Triton 600, W Audio's one etc...) (apart from the HK Lucas ones, but there more expensive)

They would be if they (srm450 v1) weren't so prone to over-heating. Quite frankly, they're the one piece of kit I regret buying. I like my Mackie subs though.

Tone go and have a listen .... you will hear plus and minusses for every speaker out there , im sure someone somewhere in the world must have a dreadful pair of rcfs somewhere??

i love my carlsbros really nice sound and they look good imo , but for thumping bass the 1501 is a superb sub.

treat your gear well and it lasts i have found , maybe im lucky but ive never ever to date had a piece of sound kit malfunction from citronic mixers to peavey or mackie speakers??

plus might know where a pair of mackies are going end of may ??? note said maybe.
