Did a prom night tonight and what a night it was!! The venue looked cool, the lights and sound were good and nearly 300 people there. The girls...well, blimey, say no more.

They were up for everything and asked me to play on for another 30 minutes. I would usually charge as stated in my T&C's but I said to the organiser "Book me for next year and I won't charge you"...we shook hands and then he said "I was going to book you anyway, this is fantastic!" - D'oh!!!

One slight hiccup during the night...well 2 actually.
First one, there was a power surge at some point and everything went off. My lights and sound etc... The 50m extension lead I was using was quite hot and I put it down to not unravelling it. It's the first time it has ever happened to me and it was only for 5 mins as I swapped extensions over but it felt like ages. No'one complained at all which was surprising.

Second one was a simple one, I wasn't concentrating and pressed the pause button on the Denon as a track was just starting to fade out.

Great night, got some pics which I may put up tomorrow.
Now it's bedtime.

And remember....uncoil extension before use. I once tried to figure out why my RCD's were tripping during a gig. You guessed it, uncoiled extension....the cable sheathing actually melted together. I never made that mistake again. :D

Definitely good advice about fully uncoiling extension cables. I had this problem once so now I use heavy duty reels that don't need fully uncoiling but they cost a small fortune! (Well, they've also got surge protection built in and a good amount of warranty if something does go wrong so I suppose that bumps the price up!)

Some of the cheaper extensions use cheap and nasty wire which is quite resistive and heats up when current passes through it. Ohms law strikes again !

The ones I'm using now are industrial ones that don't need uncoiled. I've had a drink so my memory's not good but I think they cost about £54 each from a german tools manufacturer. They were recommended to me by a guy who runs his own engineering company. They are quite heavy, though!
